The stumbling Utah Jazz play host to the visiting Denver Nuggets, who are among the teams that dealt them a loss in the current skid.

The Nuggets beat the Jazz last January 31st, 106-100.

HOME TEAM: Utah Jazz (32-17, 18-4 at home)

After a superb stretch that saw them gobble up 19 wins in 21 games, the Jazz are suddenly trending down thanks to stitching together four-straight losses. The defense has fallen asleep as it has allowed opponents to score 120.8 points on 50.3%-shooting over that span.

Donovan Mitchell got shut down in that meeting last week, showcasing arguably the worst game of his career since becoming the team’s key scorer. He bricked his six attempts from three and finished 1-for-12 overall for four points while also turning the ball over four times.

If not for Jordan Clarkson coming out of nowhere to post season-highs 37 points and seven threes, there might’ve been an ugly blowout.

The silver lining from Mitchell’s horrid night, however, is that there’s no way but up. He’ll also be at home and coming off a standard 25-point night.

Rudy Gobert (21 PTS, 11 REBS, 3 BLKS) and Bojan Bogdanovic (18 PTS, 6 3PT) both had a good showing against the Nuggets this past week. They’ll continue being threats.

ROAD TEAM: Denver Nuggets (35-16, 15-10 on the road)

Denver’s high-altitude claimed another victim. On Wednesday, the Nuggets halted Damian Lillard’s scorching run and were able to easily ward off the Portland Trail Blazers, 127-99.

Let’s just hope they don’t run out of gas since tomorrow is on the second night of a back-to-back and they are also missing a couple of guys courtesy of getting involved in the recent trade.

Nevertheless, Nikola Jokic is beaming with confidence. He’s fresh-off dropping 29 points, 13 rebounds, nine assists, two steals, and three blocks in only three quarters of play and also got the best of Gobert in the previous match-up (28 PTS, 10 REB).

Jamal Murray is back from an ankle injury after missing 10 games but don’t be surprised if the Nuggets get cautious by sitting him out. He looked very healthy against Portland, though, tallying 20 points and six assists in only 20 minutes of action.

Will Barton (19.5 PPG in his last four) and Jerami Grant (17 PPG in his last six), meanwhile, will be the solid secondary scoring options.

PREDICTION:

The Jazz finally climb out of their pit and also avenge last week’s loss. They win, 111-106, courtesy of Mitchell making up for his non-existent night from the prior meeting.
