The Luka Doncic-less Dallas Mavericks are once again riding high from a good win, and will now host the climbing Memphis Grizzlies and their electric rookie point guard, Ja Morant.

The Mavericks dusted off the Grizzlies back in November, 138-122, highlighted by eight Mavs scoring in double figures.

HOME TEAM: Dallas Mavericks (31-19, 14-12 at home)

There’s a ton of fight inside that Mavericks roster, especially when Luka Doncic (ankle) is out. They now have three big wins (Bucks, Sixers, and Pacers) without their versatile superstar, and they got all of those wins on the road.

Kristaps Porzingis wasn’t able to play in that win over the Grizzlies months back but he’s averaging 36.5 points and 12 rebounds on 55%-shooting in his last two, so look for him to rack up such numbers tomorrow. Tim Hardaway Jr., who came off-the-bench to score 20 in that November win and just had 25 points against a high-ranking defense, is backing the Mavs’ stretch big man.

Seth Curry (knee) missed the previous game and is currently listed as day-to-day, and that may make Dorian Finney-Smith the team’s third scorer (16.3 PPG, 55 FG% in his last three).

ROAD TEAM: Memphis Grizzlies (25-25, 10-12 on the road)

The baby Grit N’ Grind Grizzlies are growing up fast. Through rookie Ja Morant and a core of young, high-potential pieces, the Grizz have suddenly won 12 of their last 15 games. The surge is currently placing them eighth in the Western Conference standings.

Morant (17.3 PPG, 7.1 APG) and second-year big man Jaren Jackson Jr. (17.6 PPG, 1.6 BPG) are side-by-side in leading the team, while the other big, Jonas Valanciunas (15.2 PPG, 10.3 RPG), is busy clogging the lane for double-doubles.

The emergence of Dillon Brooks has been huge as well. The third-year forward is continuing to gain confidence and he’s now averaging 20.2 points in his last 17 games. It will be interesting to see him grow further as he locks up his role as the go-to wing scorer.

PREDICTION:

Morant is in a favourable match-up against the Mavs’ guards, but expect to see an evenly matched game with a fast-paced back-and-forth.

The battle goes down-the-wire and the Mavs eke out a 113-110 win courtesy of Porzingis and Hardaway.
