Kawhi Leonard and his LA Clippers are paying the best home team in the league a visit. Can they hand the Heat’s second loss in Miami?

HOME TEAM: Miami Heat (31-13, 20-1 at home)

The Miami Heat enter as winners in four of their last four games. They have also won back-to-back overtime games, pushing their OT record to a perfect and NBA-best 8-0 this season.

There’s simply too many explosive weapons in the Heat’s roster, and it’s always tough to pinpoint as to will suddenly rise every game. Sure, Jimmy Butler is the leader and go-to option (20.5 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 6.5 APG, 1.8 SPG), and Bam Adebayo (15.8 PPG, 10.5 RPG, 4.8 APG) is the workhorse, but everyone on the rotation is always capable of being “the man.”

Take Tyler Herro for instance, who scored team-high 25 points in Thursday’s 134-129 OT victory against the Washington Wizards. He’s a rookie who came in with only six points and 25 minutes in the two previous games because of an injury.

Another key note about Miami’s fine, fine system: Butler, Adebayo, Herro, Goran Dragic, Duncan Robinson, undrafted rookie Kendrick Nunn – that’s six different guys that have scored 25 or more points multiple times for the Heat this season.

ROAD TEAM: LA Clippers (31-14, 12-10 on the road)

The LA Clippers snapped a four-game winning streak on Thursday after bowing to the lowly Atlanta Hawks, 102-95. The supporting cast fell short on the second night of a back-to-back as Kawhi Leonard (knee) and Paul George (hamstring, missed last seven games) were both out.

Leonard should be back in action tomorrow since the recent absence was load management more than anything. The Klaw is averaging 27.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game on the season and it will be interesting to see him lead the Clipps in another tough environment. He’ll be in an exciting match-up with his Heat counterpart, Jimmy Butler, who’s also an elite two-way player.

Lou Williams (19.1 PPG, 6.1 APG) and Montrezl Harrell (19.4 PPG, 7.2 RPG) will continue helping out Leonard in the scoring load whenever George is out. Landry Shamet has been silently contributing well (13.4 PPG in his last five games), so he’ll be in that mix too, especially if Patrick Beverley (groin) sits again.

PREDICTION:

Leonard and Butler engage in an exciting duel, and Leonard leads the Clippers to a hard-fought, 109-106 victory. Both squads have a fantastic role players, and their match-up will be exciting as well.
