There was Slovenian killer on the loose in Mexico City

It seems like elite players don’t take losing to the Sacramento Kings lightly. First, it was James Harden, who destroyed the Cavs with a 55-point explosion yesterday.

Today was Luka Doncic’s turn. After his display in Mexico City, it would come as no surprise if Mexican fans started calling him ‘El Asesino’. He gave Mexican fans, who had the privilege of seeing an in-season game on their home soil, a night to remember.

Doncic was the undoubted star of the show in a 122-111 victory against the Detroit Pistons. The stats speak for themselves: 41 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists. He was efficient too, shooting 14 of 24 from the field (6 of 13 from three). The only nitpick you could possibly make is his 7 of 12 performance form the free throw line, but you’d have to be insane.

You don’t mess with the Luka.

He wasn’t the only one to have a big night either, as the other Curry brother, Seth, had a great night with 30 points on 11 of 15 shooting (6 of 9 from three). Euro-duo partner Kristaps Porzingis also quietly contributed 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

The Pistons did try their best, but multiple runs in the second half never got them close enough to try to steal the game. The loss spoiled a pretty good night for Andre Drummond, who had 23 points and 15 boards.

Other results

Al Horford sat out in his return game to Boston with a sore left knee. It didn’t matter, Joel Embiid decided to respond to a challenge to be better from Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley. Embiid had 38 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists. The Philadelphia 76ers took a 115-109 win from the Boston Celtics thanks to his performance.

Kevin Love rolled back the clock to help the Cleveland Cavaliers take a 117-109 win from the San Antonio Spurs. He had 30 points and 17 rebounds. He was helped by Colin Sexton, who had 28 points, and Jordan Clarkson, who had 25 off the bench.
