The Utah Jazz were on a tear, winning ten games in a row leading up to their matchup with the young New Orleans Pelicans.

Brandon Ingram (49 PTS, 8 REB, 6 AST, 1 BLK) decided to have a career game and lead his upstart Pelicans to a Gritty 138-132 win in overtime instead.

The Pelicans should have been an easy road game and on their quest to match the franchise record win-streak, which still stands at 15 wins. The first half ended 56-49 in the home team’s favor, but the Jazz used 42-31 third quarter to take a 91-87 lead into the fourth.

The fourth quarter was a back and forth affair that saw Donovan Mitchell (46 PTS, 6 REB, 2 AST, 2 STL) duel with Ingram. Ingram made a huge jumper with 1.3 seconds left to give the Pelicans 122-121 lead, but Rudy Gobert (17 PTS, 14 REB, 4 AST, 3 BLK) was then fouled.

Gobert missed his chance to win the game by splitting his free throws and setting up overtime.

Ingram was clearly fatigued by the the extra period, and didn’t score a field goal in OT. He also missed a bunch of free throws, going 5 of 9 from the charity stripe, but he got enough help to ice the game. Derrick Favors (21 PTS, 11 REB, 3 AST, 2 STL, 3 BLK) had a fine all-around game to help Ingram, as well.

Bojan Bogdanovic (26 PTS, 3 REB, 4 AST) and Mitchell will be disappointed in the loss.
