Don’t look now. The Los Angeles Lakers have won five-straight games, as LeBron James and Anthony Davis are doing a superb job leading the Lake Show into establishing a presence in the West.

The Bulls aren’t doing as good. The promising talent is present across the board, but the team has only managed a 2-5 record for now.

LeBron and AD are in mid-season form

Inside the Lakers’ current streak is a successful first stop in the heart of Texas, as they beat Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs in back-to-back games. James starred in the two victories thanks to recording triple-doubles on both contests. With the stat-stuffing performances, “The King” is now putting up 25.5 points, eight rebounds, and a league-leading 11.2 assists per game this season.

Anthony Davis is also producing big and he’s top eight in points (28.5), rebounds (11.5), and blocks (2.7) per game.

The supporting cast is taking turns

Kyle Kuzma, the supposed third scorer, is just two games back from his foot injury and still playing under limited minutes.

With that, the role players of the Lakers are taking turns in helping LeBron and AD on both ends. It was Dwight Howard’s turn again in the win over the Spurs, as he powered through opponents for 14 points and 13 rebounds on a perfect 7-for-7 shooting, his second perfect shooting night on the season.

The Bulls are still trapped in the cage

Zach LaVine, Lauri Markkanen, Wendell Carter, Coby White, Otto Porter, Thaddeus Young – the Bulls have promising talent and solid pieces to work with. Lavine (21.1 PPG) is a classic scorer, Markkanen (16 PPG, 8 RPG) is a stretch four that has the qualities of a young Dirk Nowitzki, Carter is a bruising big man, and Coby White is a speedster that can score inside and out, but for some reason, the core can’t carry out some consistency in the win colum.

The high hopes may have been squashed when they fell to the Charlotte Hornets in their opener, who was supposed to be the league’s laughing stock. After all, they gave up 125 points to a borderline G-League squad and allowed its rookie to set an NBA record.

The Bulls head to Wednesday’s tilt ranking at the bottom of various stats, including field goal shooting (41.6%), rebounds allowed, and assists allowed.

PREDICTION:

The Lakers are in a prime position to get another win, but they have to be prepared for the Bulls’ younger and fresher legs, which are more than capable of pounding a bullying attack.
