Away: Orlando Magic (2-5, 2-1 Away)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Jase Richardson
  • Anthony Black
  • Desmond Bane
  • Franz Wagner
  • Wendell Carter Jr.

The Magic are not in great shape, as they have been wobbling since the season started. Injuries aren’t making things any easier for Orlando, which has lost its last three games and enters Friday on a two-game skid. In their most recent outing, the Magic absorbed a 103-94 loss to Anthony Davis and the Washington Wizards at home on Tuesday.

A day before that, Orlando suffered a 108-97 home loss to the Boston Celtics. But with some rest before a four-game road trip, the Magic hope to show more fight in Friday’s meeting with another struggling team in the Suns.

Orlando, which is missing the services of Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs due to injuries, is just 2-5 against the spread so far this season, but is 2-1 ATS in road games.

Leading the charge for the Magic are Franz Wagner and Desmond Bane with 20.3 and 17.9 points per game, respectively, but neither player is shooting better than 41.9% from the field.

Home: Phoenix Suns (1-5, 1-2 Home)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Devin Booker
  • Jalen Green
  • Dillon Brooks
  • Miles Bridges
  • Khaman Maluach

The Suns aren’t doing great either. They have been taking a beating to start the season, and the latest thumping they suffered came on Thursday, when they were handed a 132-119 loss at home by the Portland Trail Blazers. That was also their fourth loss in a row. The only win they have so far was their 131-122 takedown of the Golden State Warriors at home on Oct. 25.

Defense has been bad for Phoenix. While Devin Booker, Miles Bridges and Dillon Brooks are all capable of putting up points, the Suns are allowing 124.3 points per game, second-worst in the league.  In any case, the ball will continue to go a lot to Booker, who is scoring 24.7 points per game on 48.5 percent shooting from the floor. Bridges is adding 17.3 points a night.

Booker scored only 15 points on 7/15 shooting against the Trail Blazers, but he can get it going against Orlando, which isn’t great defensively either, posting a 116.2 defensive rating to date.
