Away: Dallas Mavericks (4-3, 2-1 Away)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Kyrie Irving
  • Zaccharie Risacher
  • Cooper Flagg
  • P.J. Washington
  • Daniel Gafford

Just when people thought that the Dallas Mavericks were turning out to be among the early surprises of the 2026-27 season, Cooper Flagg and company got a harsh reality check in the form of a 115-100 loss to the previously winless Sacramento Kings at home on Tuesday.

Still, Dallas has already turned lots of heads with a 4-3 start in the Dusty May era. Flagg isn’t showing any signs of a sophomore slump, with averages of 25.2 points on 48.6% shooting from the field, 6.5 assists and 5.7 rebounds through six games.

Another reason to feel optimistic for the Mavericks’ outlook in the Spurs game is the return of Kyrie Irving to action after sitting out the meeting with Sacramento with a knee issue. Flagg and Irving were both inactive when the Mavs lost to the Spurs at home on Oct. 25, 122-106.

As a team, Dallas is averaging 112.3 points with a fifth-ranked 55.5 effective field goal percentage.

The Mavs enter Thursday with a 2-0 record against the spread in games after a loss this season.

Home: San Antonio Spurs (5-2, 3-2 Home)

Projected Starting Five:

  • De’Aaron Fox
  • Stephon Castle
  • Dylan Harper
  • Devin Vassell
  • Victor Wembanyama

The Spurs seem to have figured it out right away. Their back-to-back losses to start the season already feel so far in the past that not even Victor Wembanyama’s arms could reach back that far.

San Antonio will share the court with the Mavs on a five-game winning streak, which started in their previous matchup versus Dallas.  In that game, Wembanyama put up 23 points on 9/18 shooting, while Dylan Harper scored 22 points on 9/18 shooting as well.

San Antonio won the possession battle in that contest by quite a margin, as the Spurs were plus-14 on shot attempts from the floor. A lot of that can be attributed to their defense. The Spurs forced 21 Dallas turnovers and turned them into 26 points, while the Mavericks only had 12 points on 12 San Antonio turnovers.

The Spurs, who are 10th in the league with 117.6 points per game and eighth with 108.3 points allowed per outing, are 2-2 ATS in games after a win this season.
