The Oklahoma City Thunder theoretically just need a victory this Sunday to “win” their second-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers, as no team in NBA history has ever won a series after losing the first three games. Will the Thunder be able to take care of business in Game 3? Or, will the Lakers fight back and cut their series deficit in half?

Away: Oklahoma City Thunder (2-0)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
  • Luguentz Dort
  • Ajay Mitchell
  • Chet Holmgren
  • Isaiah Hartenstein

The Thunder are still perfect in the playoffs. After sweeping the Phoenix Suns in the first round, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and company have won the first two games in the second round against Los Angeles, including OKC’s 125-107 victory on Friday.

The Thunder’s depth was on full display in Game 2, with Ajay Mitchell providing 20 points, while Jared McCain and Cason Wallace combined for 30 points off the bench.

Oklahoma shot 56% from the field and got it done defensively as well, with 12 steals and 26 points off Los Angeles turnovers. The Thunder are operating like a well-oiled machine right now, seemingly capable of overcoming any form of challenge thrown at it by LA.

Changing sites for the next two games might not affect them at all, having gone 3-0 SU and 3-0 ATS in their last three outings at Crypto.com Arena.

Home: Los Angeles Lakers (0-2)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Marcus Smart
  • Austin Reaves
  • Luke Kennard
  • LeBron James
  • Deandre Ayton

Luka Doncic is not walking through that door in Game 3 for the Lakers. The former NBA scoring champion is not close to returning from his injury, and his absence surely is not helping LA.

Hopefully, the basketball gods have a better script for the Lakers when the series shifts to Hollywood for Game 3 and Game 4.

Down 0-2 against the reigning champions is never a great sign of things to come, but at least the Lakers are finally playing at home this Sunday, where they could also potentially get a friendlier whistle. They are 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS overall in their last 10 games as the home team.

Austin Reaves is also seemingly back to himself after scoring 31 points on 10/16 shooting in Game 2, while Rui Hachimura had 16 points (6/10 FG) with four 3-pointers.
