Scrimmage Game #1:
Oklahoma City Thunder 102 | Philadelphia 76ers 97

The Thunder showed great resiliency as they stormed back from a 24-point deficit, which was still at 14 with only 10 minutes left.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led OKC with an all-round line (16 pts, 7 rebs, 5 ast, 2 stls), but it was the recently returned Andre Roberson that sealed the deal. He splashed a pair of three-pointers in the last 50 seconds to complete the comeback.

The Sixers’ All-Star big man, Joel Embiid, sat out the game and his presence was greatly missed. Buddying star Ben Simmons’s near triple-double (14 pts, 11 rebs, 9 ast) fell short of carrying Philly.

Scrimmage Game #2:
Boston Celtics 117 | Phoenix Suns 103

The Celtics easily moved past the Suns through their classic, smooth-flowing offense. Three Celtic starters produced well – Jaylen Brown (21 pts), Jayson Tatum (16 pts), Gordon Hayward (17 pts), and it was enough to get the job done.

Kemba Walker made his scrimmage games debut in limited action, playing just 9 minutes and going 2-for-6 from the field for six points.

Six Suns scored in double figures, led by Devin Booker (17 pts) and Mikal Bridges (16 pts), but the team’s poor shooting day (38.9 FG%) buried their chances.

Scrimmage Game #3:
Indiana Pacers 118 | Dallas Mavericks 111

The Pacers allowed 37 points in the first quarter but were able to shake it off quick through a classic balanced attack. Four of their starters were solid – Myles Turner (15 pts, 8 rebs), Victor Oladipo (16 pts), Malcolm Brogdon (17 pts, 6 ast), and TJ Warren (20 pts) – and Edmond Sumner came off the bench to add 12. All-Star Domantas Sabonis was out as he left the bubble due to a foot injury.

The Mavs had good outings from Luka Doncic, who posted his usual stat-stuffing stat line in just 24 minutes of action (20 pts 11 rebs, 9 ast), Maxi Kleber (18 pts), and veteran guard JJ Barea (14 pts, 6 rebs, 6 ast).

Scrimmage Game #4:
Toronto Raptors 110 | Portland Trail Blazers 104

The first two-and-a-half quarters of the game featured a good back-and-forth, but as the final frame rolled along, the defending champs clamped down on the Blazers.

The Raps dominated the third period, 38-21, and it was a good enough cushion to keep Portland from gaining momentum until the final buzzer.

Pascal Siakam and Serge Ibaka guided Toronto by scoring 19 and 18 points respectively, but Kyle Lowry’s 13 points and four assists also proved to be vital. Seldom-used third-year guard Matt Thomas also contributed well, chipping in 16 points.

Jusuf Nurkic’s 17 points, 13 boards, and five assists, as well as CJ McCollum’s 21 points highlighted the Blazers’ attack.

Scrimmage Game #5:
Houston Rockets 119 | Memphis Grizzlies 104

The Rockets stamped a good ending to Day 5 with a great fourth quarter surge, thanks in good part to James Harden and Ben McLemore suddenly going berserk.

Through the duo, Houston outscored the Grizzlies in the final period, 40-17. The Rockets actually went from being down 10 to being up 17 in the same quarter.

Harden finished with 31 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists as he treated it like a usual regular season game and played for 36 minutes. McLemore’s hot hand, meanwhile, had him scoring 26 points on 8-for-10 shooting in just 24 minutes.

It was a tough result for the Grizzlies as their starters came out with a lot of energy. All five reached double figures, as well as rookie sixth man Brandon Clarke.
