Scrimmage Game #1:
Los Angeles Lakers 119 | Orlando Magic 112

The Los Angeles Lakers jumped ahead early and established sizable 35-19 lead at the end of the first quarter, allowing them to control the pace of the game.

Fresh-off his 25th birthday, Kyle Kuzma stepped up in place of Anthony Davis to score a game-high 25 points – AD played limited minutes as he got poked in the eye. LeBron James scored 20 and dished out a game-high seven assists.

Five Magic players scored in double figures, including DJ Augustin’s 21. The loss dropped Orlando to 0-2 in the scrimmage games.

Scrimmage Game #2:
Milwaukee Bucks 131 | Sacramento Kings 123

The Milwaukee Bucks and the Sacramento Kings were both in high gear offensively, and it was evident throughout the contest.

Six Bucks reached double figures, as led by Kyle Korver and Brook Lopez who had 22 and 21, respectively. They also combined for nine of the team’s 20 total threes. Giannis Antetokounmpo was pretty efficient yet again, putting up 15 points, nine boards, and six assists in only 16 minutes.

The Kings had seven guys score double-digits, four of which came from the bench, but it’s not enough for a superbly well-rounded Bucks team.

Scrimmage Game #3:
Utah Jazz 101 | Miami Heat 99

It was one of the more entertaining games of the day. The Utah Jazz and Miami Heat engaged in a really competitive contest that felt like an actual playoff battle. The game featured 16 lead changes and the final score came down to a nail-biting sequence and a missed equalizer.

Rudy Gobert led the way for Utah, with 21 points and eight rebounds. Mike Conley and Jordan Clarkson each added 17.

With Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo out, Miami got solid performances from Kelly Olynyk, who scored a game-high 27, and Tyler Herro, who had 20.

Scrimmage Game #4:
Brooklyn Nets 124 | San Antonio Spurs 119

Like the Jazz-Heat game, this was a highly contested. It, too, featured 16 lead changes.

There were solid performances on the Brooklyn Nets’ side – Caris LeVert (27 pts), Jarret Allen (10 pts, 11 rebs), Rodions Kurucs (17 pts), Tyler Johnson (17 prs) – but ultimately, it was defensive effort that helped them earn the victory. They picked the Spurs’ pocket 14 times and forced 10 more errors.

San Antonio was led by Derrick White scoring 22 points, and Jakob Poetl (12 pts, 11 rebs) and Drew Eubanks (12 pts, 14 rebs) both recording a double-double.

Scrimmage Game #5:
Los Angeles Clippers 105 | Washington Wizards 100

After three quarters, it looked like the Washington Wizards were going to upset the LA Clippers. They head to the final period with a 84-76 lead, and were clamping on Kawhi Leonard, who shot a horrid 3-for-16 for the day.

But then, the Clippers flipped the switch and showed why they’re among the favorites to win the championship. They flexed their depth too – six Clippers scored in double figures, led by Patrick Peterson’s 16 points and six rebounds on 7-for-10 shooting.

The lowly Wizards put up a good fight, and enjoyed good outings by two of their young guns, as Rui Hachimura (15 pts, 10 rebs) and Isaac Bonga (15 pts, 11 rebs) both posted double-doubles.

Scrimmage Game #5:
New Orleans Pelicans 119 | Denver Nuggets 104

No Zion Williamson, no problem. The New Orleans Pelicans dominated yet again even without super rookie Zion, who just re-entered the bubble and is still in quarantine.

The Pels scored 30-plus points in the first, second, and fourth quarter to have great stranglehold on the game. They also went 15-for-36 from downtown and forced the Denver Nuggets to commit 20 turnovers.

Rookie swingman Nickeil Alexander-Walker led the Pelicans with 21 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Co-youngsters Jaxson Hayes (13 pts, 6 rebs) and Sindarius Thornwell (12 pts, 7 ast) backed him up.

The second go-around of the Nuggets’ jumbo lineup flopped as it was unable to keep up with the opposition’s youthful pace. It still did well, though. Nikola Jokic (11 pts, 10 rebs, 8 ast) and Bol Bol (15 pts) had good numbers again, as well as Mason Plumlee (18 pts, 13 rebs).

Journeyman sharpshooter Troy Daniels was the hot man for the Nuggets. He scored 28 and knocked down seven treys off the bench.
