Yep! You read that headline right. Two legendary boxers will make their in-ring return this September. The former baddest man on the Planet, Mike Tyson will be taking on one of the flashiest fighters of all-time, Roy Jones Jr.

If you’re a boxing fan then you would know why this fight between two men in their 50s is generating even the slightest bit of noise.

But these two ain’t some regular 50-year-old men. Tyson and Jones Jr are both world class in ring killers back in their prime days and on September 12 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, they’ll be trying to prove that age is nothing more than a number.

Tyson, who is a former heavyweight champion, has been teasing his return since May of this year by posting videos of him going full beastmode while training.

In his 58 fights, Iron Mike won 50 with 44 KOs. Only 6 men came out of a fight against Tyson and say they conquered the legendary fighter. The last time Tyson was on a ring was in June 2005, where he lost against Kevin McBride.

Jones Jr on the other hand is the more active fighter, winning his last fight in February of 2018. For his career, Captain Hook won 66 out of his 75 matches with 44 coming by way of KO.

The pair were supposed to face each other 17 years ago. At the time Jones Jr was in his peak and was offered $40 million to take on the declining Tyson.

But Jones Jr declined the offer as he felt that he should’ve been paid more than what he was offered.

The bout between the two legendary fighters is a preview as well on the Legends Only League that Tyson is pushing.

A league for retired athletes to showcase they still got it despite their age. He said in the video that the league is not only for retired boxers for other athletes of different sports as well.

Even if the anticipated fight will only be an eight-round exhibition match with head gear and oversized gloves. It’s still a must see fight for both casual and regular fans.

If we’re being realistic, though, seeing two men over 50 punching each other could become a sad sight. First, we know they’re probably not really going to be hurting each other, and will just be there to put on a show. Second, with Jones Jr’s now-suspect chin, you don’t know if he can survive a solid power shot from Tyson should ‘Iron Mike’ get mad and decide to go for broke.

Let’s see how it goes. In the meantime, here are a couple of videos to remind you of how dominant they both were.
