The matches in Week 6, compared to previous weeks, are quite laid back. The matchups are unfortunately not as spicy at a glance, since there are now general impressions with who’s at the lower ranks and who has made it to Top 8.

Fortunately, we’ve handpicked the matches you should watch if you’re looking for action-packed LPL gameplay, before the final four weeks start to push every team towards their limits.

Suning versus eStar – Day 2, Match 2

Suning (1.49 to win) is still managing to stay on top of the majority, but they’re not a perfect team just yet. Angel is an above average mid laner, showing prowess with Azir in their match against LGD. Sofm has once again done the same, against Peanut and other junglers in the past few weeks. They still have hiccups against better teams when it comes to macro, which is something they can work on.

In their recent battle against Vici Gaming, eStar (2.25 to win) has been outclassed due to the latter’s inconsistency to execute cleanly and make leads count. Fenfen needs to make his presence matter as his picks are perfect for the mid lane, yet he displays no signs of mastery. Once that happens, Wei can coordinate and eStar will finally have a deadly duo that can take on the majority of the league.

At the current state of the teams, Suning is the likely winner on this matchup because they can demonstrate how to play in the LPL. The game score should be 2-0.

LNG Esports versus Victory Five – Day 3, Match 1

LNG Esports (3.11 to win) isn’t looking too great lately, after being beaten by Oh My God, Bilibili, and Top Esports in the past two weeks. Unfortunately, their current team suffers from bad macro and a lack of understanding of matchups. They can pick the best champions, but without the big picture in mind, the combo potential of their champions are rendered useless.

Victory Five (1.26 to win) in this season has definitely made their mark in the Summer season. They’re a completely new team, and their recent bout with FunPlus Phoenix made the latter work for that 2-1. Any team who couldn’t beat FPX definitely stands no chance against the new Victory Five, with players like Biubiu and ppgod to make every move threaten the enemy team’s chances.

Victory Five should be able to take this series 2-0 without a doubt.

LGD Gaming versus JD Gaming – Day 4, Match 2

LGD Gaming’s current status is threatened after Kramer’s underperformance against Suning. The supposed elite bot carry fell from grace in one series, and now they’re matched against one of the top 4 teams LPL teams from Spring. The biggest question that LGD must face is whether their embarrassing loss is a result of the charm falling off, or just a bad day for the team to play.

JD Gaming managed to jump into the Top 3 of the leaderboard, showing that it’s time for them to start bouncing back. Kanavi is as remarkable as he was in the Spring season with his stellar aggressive jungling. LokeN against Kramer will be the matchup to watch, especially to see if Kramer can hold his ground against another one of the better ADCs in the LPL.

Given that LGD is performing worse than usual, and JDG is performing better than before, it’s hard to say the trend will continue in the same path as before. This will be a tight match, and a fun one at that.

Top Esports versus FunPlus Phoenix – Day 6, Match 2

We’re having another runback with two of the top four teams with Top Esports and FunPlus Phoenix. When they last met for the Mid-Season Cup, the former dropped the latter with a 3-1 score.

Top Esports’ power level doesn’t stop growing, and they’re still undefeated with a 7-0 series score. Against FunPlus Phoenix, solo lane matchups (especially Knight versus Doinb) will be the defining factor in the early game, while JackeyLove will just wait for the late game to render FPX’s efforts useless.

FunPlus Phoenix, of course, won’t hold their breath. They showed against Victory Five that Lwx in the bot lane has returned to a better state, and will be willing to take JackeyLove on. Tian against Karsa will be a close jungle matchup, while Khan against 369 may be slightly favored on the former.

Top Esports at their current level can definitely beat FunPlus Phoenix again, but they should watch their feet from getting caught off guard and avoid getting too lax with the World Champion.

EDward Gaming versus Royal Never Give Up – Day 7, Match 2

EDward Gaming is close to scraping Top 8, but their current position already says a lot on how they generally fare against the rest of the league. Their saving grace is in Hope with almost clean execution with the meta marksmen. Their downfall lies on the team’s overall inconsistency, which is bad against their current opponent.

Royal Never Give Up finally met their match in Team WE, shaking the former off its high horse with a reverse sweep. In particular, Cryin did not perform as well as the resident mid laner Xiaohu, for his first full series. If Cryin cannot perform well even against EDG’s Scout, it will be likely that Xiaohu will continue to be the team’s mid laner for the remaining weeks to minimize future losses.
