It was an important battle between Suning and OMG today, as the two teams are fighting for a playoff position. Suning (15 PTS, 5W, 7L) currently find themselves out of the playoff seedings in 11th place, while OMG (18PTS, 6W, 5L) are barely clinging onto the eighth seed with WE, Vici, and Suning all only behind by three points.

OMG found themselves favored in the odds (1.45 vs. 2.55), but it would remain to be seen if they could live up to the expectations. They pulled out a 2-1 victory over Vici on Monday.

Game 1:

Suning: SNBin(Akali) ,SofM (Trundle), Angel (Azir), huanfeng (Kalista), SwordArt (Taric),

OMG: Curse (Ornn), H4cker (Olaf), icon (Corki) , SmlZ (Aphelios) , cold (Braum)

Suning picked up the pair of Taric and Kalista for game 1, hoping to add to the absurd win rate that the champion duo has.

Hacker found himself in a troublesome 3v1 spot in the third minute, but was able to get away thanks to backup coming in to protect him just before he went down.

OMG went for the dragon in the fifth minute, but lost it to Suning and then the ensuing team battle saw SwordArt and H4cker trade deaths for a 1-1 kill score.

OMG picked up a good kill in the 11th minute, taking down SNBin and escaping with their own lives. They pulled to a 1K gold lead and a 2-1 kill lead.

By the 14th minute, it was surprising that there had been no more kills, as a number of skirmishes continued to break out. Both teams had a dragon apiece at this point, too.

Icon jumped up to the top lane and took down Bin efficiently, and then cold and SmlZ took down huangfeng in the bottom lane. SofM also went down with Angel barely escaping for a 5-1 kill lead for OMG, who also picked up their second dragon and close to a 4K gold lead.

Suning lost their T1 top lane tower, but managed to answer back by taking OMG’s bot lane T1 tower as well.

A 4v4 broke out in the mid lane, and huanfeng found himself cut off from his team and deleted in a 4v1 fight while trying to escape to bot lane. OMG went hard at the bot lane after that, pushing with their rift herald to clear Suning’s bot lane inhibitor.

The 5K gold deficit started to become a problem for Suning as well, and OMG were in good control by the 22nd minute.

OMG took down their third dragon of the game, and Suning chose not to take on a 5v5 fight.

OMG took down Bin and SofM in the 24th minute, and then used their advantage to quickly take down the dragon – then took down the T2 turret in the mid lane. Suning’s top lane T2 turret went down a minute later.

Icon found himself caught out and outnumbered in the top lane but held on long enough for his squad to arrive, and suddenly Suning found themselves losing SofM and huanfeng instead of picking up what seemed to be a guaranteed kill. OMG then eliminated the remaining turrets after that and grabbed a 10-1 kill lead and 10K gold lead.

The rest of the inhibitors went down in the 29th minute and OMG pushed in for comprehensive win and a 12-1 kill lead and 12K gold lead.

Suning had no answers for Smlz’s Aphelios, who finished 5/0/4 and 22.5K damage. Icon also dealt 19.7K damage with his Corki. Solid teamwork was the story of the game though, and everyone made a significant contribution.

The victory was comprehensive, with OMG only losing one tower – and nullifying Suning’s Kalista and Taric combo.

Game 2:

Suning: SNBin (Renekton), SofM (Sett), Angel (Akali), huanfeng (Kalista), SwordArt (Taric)

OMG: Curse (Wukong), H4cker (Elise), icon (Azir) , SmlZ (Aphelios) , cold (Braum)

Suning were left with a lot of questions to ask themselves after game 1, and needed to showcase a much better performance to forced a third game in the series. They went with Kalista and Taric again, hoping for better results. They banned Olaf, but suprisingly didn’t ban Aphelios, who Smlz used to dominate the first game.

Curse went down early, getting himself caught on in a 2v1 and ganked giving Suning a 1-0 kill lead after the first minute.

Another melee broke out in the third minute and SofM and SwordArt, and huanfeng went down compared to only Smlz for OMG, flipping the lead to 3-2 for OMG. Suning pegged back in the fifth minute though, taking down Curse in the top lane to tie it 3-3.

It was a more aggressive second game from Suning, and they again took down Smlz in the sixth minute. Bin used his Renekton to bully Curse’s Wukong in the top lane around this time too.

OMG grabbed the first dragon of the game in the seventh minute. Suning picked up their first herald a minute after. Suning took down the first tower of the game in the ninth minute, using their herald to do the dirty work and get a 1K gold lead.

Curse saw himself disconnected in the 10th minute, forcing a pause in the game. It was probably fortunate timing for OMG, as it would allow them to regroup and discuss how to counter Suning’s aggression.

Bin and Smlz traded deaths to push it 4-4, but then Curse went down to push the lead back to 5-4 for Suning.

Suning picked up their first dragon of the game shortly after that, giving each team one each.

OMG took down a T1 turret in the bot lane in the 13th minute, but Angel took advantage of the situation and executed Curse for a 6-4 kill lead. OMG managed to peg back another kill to make it 6-5, but it looked like Suning were still feeling good about their chances in the game.

OMG took down the T1 turret in the top lane in the 17th minute. However, Suning picked up their second dragon soon as SofM soloed it.

Suning dropped their herald in the bot lane in the 19th minute but weren’t able to take down the T2 turret. They had cleared OMG’s T2 turret on the top lane before that, though. OMG also cleared their opponent’s T2 turret in the bot lane.

In the 22nd minute, Suning had control of the map, and also held a 2K gold lead. They took down OMG’s bot lane T2 turret at this point, too.

Technical problems seemed to continue for LPL at this point, as the Twitch broadcast stopped.

When the broadcast game back, it was the 24th minute, and OMG took down Bin, Angel, and huanfeng at the Baron to flip the kill lead to 9-7 for themselves. SofM shortly went down along with Angel afterwards, while Curse and cold went down – making it an 11-9 kill lead for OMG, and giving them a 1.5K gold lead.

The sudden turnaround in momentum seemed to throw Suning off, and OMG suddenly became the aggressors, clearing the T2 turret in the mid lane.

The pivotal moment of the game happened in the 28th minute, as a huge team fight broke out in mid lane where all of Suning were deleted. OMG shortly completed the win with a 16-9 kill lead and 6K gold differential.

It was a shocking comeback victory, but again showed an ability to adjust, and the willingness of players like Curse (who had the most deaths on both sides at five) to make the right plays for the team.

Smlz was again the top damage dealer, dishing out 20.1K total damage. He overcame his early game struggles to finish 6/3/8. Curse finished 3/5/8, but his contribution can’t be discounted either.

OMG will be happy with the series victory, and their 21 points gives them a more comfortable six-point lead over Team WE, Vici, and Suning.

Suning, on the other hand, are going to be left with even more questions as they see their playoff hopes grow dimmer. It certainly looked like they were going to force the third game, but instead see themselves stuck on 15 points.
