Day 1 Previews

EDward Gaming vs. Team WE

These two teams both made it to qualifiers on opposing brackets, and fell short on the spring playoffs the same way. Now, these teams are fated to match on the first game of Week 1.

EDG imported a new bottom carry from their academy team, and he is Wu “BBD” Ling-Feng. Not to be confused with Gen.G’s mid laner, BBD is the second AD carry together with Hope in EDG’s starting roster, and we’ll see how it pans out.

During the Spring Season, Team WE beat EDG 2-1 in Week 7. However, the odds are towards EDG’s favor. They’ve shown their mettle against the top teams in their region, so we’ll see how it turns out if EDG can stand true to the odds.

LNG Esports vs. Suning

Suning placed 11th in the spring season, which was three places off the playoffs qualifier. Hence, their team could be gauged as about average in comparison to others.

This time, Suning brought in a jungler by the name of Chen “View” Yu-Ming from their academic roster and into the big stage. This could give them better chances with the variety of combinations their roster can do.

Meanwhile, LNG Esports was at the bottom tiers of the spring season with a disappointing 31% series winrate across 16 series. In addition, there were no reported roster changes during the offseason.

Thus, these odds definitely look about right, given their backgrounds and roster swaps. Expect Suning to take this win hard.

Concluding Thoughts

We’re now halfway into the year, and while the sun is scorching hot these days, so is the level of competition that is about to unfold in over 10 weeks of the regular season.

There are some roster changes here and there, and surely teams will adapt once they start to put a few games in.
