LEAGUE OF LEGENDS

LPL 2020 Summer Playoffs

The LPL 2020 Summer Playoffs started a few days ago, and it was just as action-packed as expected. While the scores so far have been a 3-1 series win for select teams, the score doesn’t tell the tale of how close the fights actually were between these teams.

In Round 1 of the Playoffs, Victory Five defeated FunPlus Phoenix 3-1 and LGD Gaming beat Team WE 3-1. FPX and WE are now out of the bracket, and unfortunately we are not seeing the reigning champions at the favorable eyes of the masses as they fall flat in 7th to 8th place.

In the top half of the quarterfinals, Victory Five’s run fell short to the other rising star in the season with Suning. While V5 had a great start, Suning bested them in the first-to-3 scenario due to them being more stable in longer games. However, Victory Five looked extremely promising, and everyone is likely to watch their development with great interest in the next season.

The next quarterfinals match between Invictus Gaming and LGD Gaming starts in a few hours. Catch the action live in the LPL English broadcasts in YouTube and Twitch!

LCS 2020 Summer Playoffs

On the other side of the world, the LCS 2020 Summer Playoffs kicked off as well. As the North American eSports scene start to spice up, the LCS is starting to slowly make itself more palatable for the competitive spectators.

The fan favorites Team Liquid and Cloud9 are about to battle Golden Guardians (defeated Team SoloMid 3-0) and FlyQuest (close fight with Evil Geniuses 3-2) respectively in Winner’s Side Round 2 in a few days, starting on August 20.

Meanwhile in the Loser’s Bracket, Dignitas lost 0-3 to Team SoloMid. One of the Loser’s Bracket qualifiers has now dropped from the double-bracket playoffs. Will 100 Thieves, the other Loser’s Bracket qualifier, suffer the same fate under the hands of Evil Geniuses? Only time can tell.

LEC 2020 Summer Playoffs

The qualifying teams for the LEC 2020 Summer Playoffs have been finally determined, and the competition will officially take off on the 21st of August. The qualifying teams are as follows, from 1st to 6th place:

  • Rogue
  • MAD Lions
  • G2 Espoorts
  • Fnatic
  • SK Gaming
  • FC Schalke 04

In the Winner’s Bracket, Rogue will be facing Fnatic, while G2 Esports and MAD Lions will be fighting each other in the same bracket. In the Loser’s Bracket, SK Gaming and FC Schalke 04 will be trying to climb their way up against everyone else in the Winner’s Bracket.

DOTA 2

OMEGA League: Asia Divine Division

The regular matches have wrapped up, and now OMEGA League’s Asia Divine Division is looking for its two Play-in Stage winners before the Playoffs officially start.

The four teams in the Play-in Stage are the following: Adroid Esports versus EHOME.Immortal, and Blaze versus Execration. We’re personally cheering on for Execration and Adroit Esports to make it to the Playoffs.

For the rest of the teams who made it to Playoffs, the competition looks quite close. In the Upper Bracket Round 1, 496 Gaming will be facing For The Dream, while Aster.Aries fights Neon Esports. Both teams performed really well, and it’s hard to make an educated guess on which will come out alive.

Reality Rift and DeMonster will be waiting for their competitors from the Play-in Stages. They will be battling in the Lower Bracket Round 1 of the tournament, and will try to make their way up to Grand Finals from there.

OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division

With the only Tier 1 tournament in the area, OMEGA League’s Europe Immortal Division is a sight to behold. 12 teams will duke it out for over $500,000 in the prize pool, with $200,000 up for grabs for who can get a hold of it.

The Europe Immortal Division started on August 14, and there’s no single team currently under the spotlight with most teams having one series a piece. The current leading groups, however, are Evil Geniuses with 2-0 match score in Group A, and Team OG with 2-1 match score in Group B.

ESL One Thailand 2020: Asia

Another Tier 2 Asian tournament will start on the 20th of August, as part of the ESL One series.

As of now, there are ten teams that received an invite: Fnatic, BOOM Esports, Geek Fam, TNC Predator, T1, Royal Never Give Up, Sparking Arrow Gaming, Aster.Aries, Motivade.Trust Gaming, and Hashtag?.DOTA.

The latter two teams, Motivade.Trust Gaming and Hashtag?.DOTA, came from the Season 1 of the ESL Thailand Championship 2020.

Two teams from the Closed Qualifier will be determined soon to be part of the official ESL One Thailand 2020 Asia division, starting from the 17th of August to the 19th. Three out of four teams are already invited, namely: Adroit Esports, For The Dream, and Team Trust.

Team Trust is the winner of the CN Open Qualifier, and the 4th team to play for the Closed Qualifier will come from the SEA Open Qualifier.
