Worlds 2020 Qualifiers, Part 2

Another set of teams are getting the pass to play for Worlds 2020! Some teams that qualified this round will finally be making their debut on the world stage, and we’re excited to finally see them battle teams from other regions.

In the LPL, their 2nd and 3rd seed has been sealed by JD Gaming and Suning respectively. This will be both teams’ international debut after making rounds in the League Esports scene for their astounding powerhouses. JD Gaming qualified for having the most championship points this season, and Suning qualified for winning the upper bracket of the LPL Regional Finals against LGD Gaming.

After not making it to Worlds for two years, Team SoloMid has finally broken the streak and qualified for Worlds 2020. They’re still not done with the LCS, with Team Liquid and FlyQuest still duking it out. These three teams are definitely qualified, but whoever gets the first and second seed gets the best seats in the house.

The LEC has new additions to their qualifying teams for Worlds in the form of Fnatic and MAD Lions. Both teams have been solid players in the LEC, with enough strength to go toe-to-toe with the ever-popular G2 Esports. More or less, the European qualifiers are at the same level, and there’s no knowing if they’ll make something big happen once they step in the grand stage.

FunPlus Phoenix will not be defending their title

After a gruesome battle against Invictus Gaming in the loser’s side of the LPL Regional Finals, FunPlus Phoenix ends their season run with a 2-3 score, eliminating them from the tournament and from the chance to qualify for Worlds 2020.

FunPlus Phoenix had an overall good run as the reigning world champion, but their dark technology could not keep up with the ever-improving teams of the LPL. They may be out now, but there’s always the next season for making comebacks.

NA’s Cloud9 loses massive momentum this Summer Season

While they blazed through the LCS 2020 Spring Season, it was quite the surprise to see one of the quickly rising teams suddenly end their run on a high note.

This Summer Playoffs, they ended their run at 4th place, meaning they cannot qualify any longer for Worlds 2020. In the regular season, they placed at 2nd place, coming from a clean Spring run with 1st place on both regular season and playoffs. They never won a single game starting from Round 2, losing to FlyQuest and Team SoloMid—the two teams who were only placing average in the previous tournaments.

It’s unfortunate to see Cloud9 play so well and suddenly shift gears in the playoffs, but they are certainly showing promise for the next season as a likely contender for Worlds seed once more.

ESL One Thailand 2020: Asia Division is underway

Competition in the ESL One Thailand’s Asia Division is extremely tight. The scores in the upper halves of the two groups are so close that anyone can take the first place in a single blink of an eye.

Group A has three different teams contending for 1st place: BOOM Esports, Fnatic, and TNC Predator. All teams have a 3-1 series score, and Fnatic and TNC Predator have a 7-3 match score. BOOM Esports follows with a 6-4 match score.

Group B’s leading teams are Geek Fam and Sparking Arrow Gaming, both with a clean 3-0 series score and a single loss difference between the two teams.

If things can go as well as they wish for, Motivate.Trust Gaming in Group A and Neon Esports in Group B both have a chance to make it to the Top Two teams of their respective groups. It will be a tough challenge as Neon Esports will be fighting Geek Fam today.

OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division Group Stage ending soon

The playoffs are almost ready, as the group stage is about to close out with the Tiebreaker and the Play-in Stage that will happen in the next couple of hours.

In the Tiebreaker, FlyToMoon will be fighting Ninjas in Pyjamas in a best-of-three situation as they both ended the group with a 1-4 series score and 3-8 match score. Last time they met in the regular season, Ninjas in Pyjamas swept FlyToMoon with a clean 2-0. Will we be seeing the same in today’s Tiebreaker games?

In the Play-in Stage, Alliance is waiting for the winner of the tiebreaker between FlyToMoon and Ninjas in Pyjamas. Team Liquid is against 5men on the other bracket of the Play-in.

For the Playoffs, our players in the Round 1 Upper Bracket are Team Nigma against OG, and Team Secret against Evil Geniuses. Waiting on the Round 1 Lower Bracket are Virtus.pro and Vikin.gg for the winners of the Play-in stage.

There’s no question that this is the Immortal Division, with the amount of power that each team in the Playoffs is exuding. While there aren’t as much Asia division games going on, it’s a great idea to look out for the competition in the Western scene, as they are able to hold their own quite well.
