Away: Toronto Raptors (4-3, 2-2 Away)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Immanuel Quickley
  • RJ Barrett
  • Ja’Kobe Walter
  • Scottie Barnes
  • Jakob Poeltl (DTD)

The Raptors closed out their California trip on a positive note. After suffering a 131-125 loss to Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers in Tinseltown on Monday, Toronto took down the Los Angeles Clippers in a 125-118 victory in Inglewood on Tuesday.

That puts the Raptors above .500 again with a 4-3 record, and they will look to further improve their record when they face the Nuggets.

But Toronto will also continue to miss the services of Kawhi Leonard, who is still weeks away from returning to action, according to the latest reports.

Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley have shown they can carry the load on offense. Barnes is leading the team with 24.4 points per game, while Barrett is putting up 20.7 a night. Quickley improved his season average to 18.0 points after popping off for 27 points in the Clippers game.

Toronto is eighth in the league thus far with a 115.0 offensive rating, but the team’s outside shooting is still catching up. The Raptors are making only 31.5% of their shots from deep.

Home: Denver Nuggets (3-3, 1-2 Home)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Jamal Murray
  • Christian Braun
  • Cameron Johnson
  • Aaron Gordon
  • Nikola Jokic

The Nuggets got tripped up by Deni Avdija and the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday in a 118-110 loss at home.

Denver got 35 and 26 points from Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic, respectively, but the lack of support from the other Nuggets was a major reason for the team’s downfall in this contest.

It was simply not a great look on Denver’s support group that it left the top two players carrying nearly all the scoring duties. Aaron Gordon and Cam Johnson coughed up 12 points, while Christian Braun was the only none-Jokic/Murray to score in double digits with 14 markers.

Look for the Nuggets to put some emphasis on getting the other guys going in the next game against Toronto, which has given up a ton of points of late.

The Nuggets’ defense isn’t much to write home about either, ranking only 24th with a 116.0 defensive rating, but they have the tools to win a shootout notwithstanding their performance against the Trail Blazers.
