In one of the most anticipated playoff matchups in a while, the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder continue their defense against the fast-rising San Antonio Spurs – in a Conference Finals stage no less.

Catch the game tomorrow, May 19th, Tuesday, at 8:30 AM, Manila time.

AWAY: San Antonio Spurs (0-0)

Projected Starting Five:

  • De’Aaron Fox
  • Stephon Castle
  • Devin Vassell
  • Julian Champagnie
  • Victor Wembanyama

San Antonio enters the series with confidence after taking four of five meetings against Oklahoma City during the regular season. Interestingly, three of those wins came within a 12-day span in December, giving the Spurs a certain confidence in this brewing rivalry.

At the center of it all is Victor Wembanyama, who has consistently shown respect toward the Thunder while also subtly making it clear that he enjoys competing against them, especially Chet Holmgren. Their individual matchup will naturally dominate headlines, but San Antonio’s strength goes far beyond one superstar. Wemby, De’Aaron Fox, and Stephon Castle drive the offense, yet the Spurs’ identity remains rooted in depth, defensive versatility, and team chemistry.

One potential X-factor is rookie Dylan Harper, whose growth throughout the season and playoffs has been impossible to ignore. His confidence and playmaking continue to expand at the perfect time. If San Antonio’s supporting cast continues delivering on both ends, the Spurs could once again frustrate a Thunder team they’ve consistently challenged.

HOME: Oklahoma City Thunder (0-0)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
  • Luguentz Dort
  • Jalen Williams
  • Chet Holmgren
  • Isaiah Hartenstein

Oklahoma City enters the conference finals looking every bit like a powerhouse. The Thunder swept through the first two rounds without facing much resistance, arriving at this series rested and beaming with confidence.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander remains the centerpiece after capturing his second straight MVP award. His poise, scoring versatility, and command of the game have elevated OKC all season long, and now he faces perhaps his toughest challenge yet. Across from him stands a Spurs defense that has repeatedly disrupted the Thunder’s rhythm.

Of course, much of the attention will fall on the Holmgren-Wembanyama showdown. Holmgren may not possess Wemby’s overwhelming talent ceiling, but he’s capable of impactful offensive stretches and remains backed by one of the league’s deepest defensive groups. Alex Caruso, Lu Dort, Cason Wallace, Isaiah Hartenstein, Jared McCain, and Ajay Mitchell all bring toughness, defensive pressure, and versatility that make Oklahoma City difficult to attack.

Another major development is the return of Jalen Williams, who missed 49 regular-season games and the Thunder’s last six playoff contests. When healthy, he’s an elite two-way threat who changes the team’s ceiling. With him back in the fold, OKC suddenly looks even more dangerous heading into Game 1.
