Two weeks of seeding games are in the books, and we’re now down to the last day of the regular season tomorrow. It has been a great return for the league as the players have provided fans a handful of great performances and cardiac finishes.

With that, it’s only right that the NBA decided to award an MVP and select an All-Bubble team solely based on the restart games (July 31 – August 15).

By now, considering the games for that particular stretch are about 95% done, we pretty much know who the most deserving picks are for the MVP and bubble team slots.

Keep in mind that it’s vote-based, though, so be prepared for the out-of-this-world voters and the crazy results – but, whatever, I’ll take a crack at it.

All these guys have a solid argument for their respective spots.

Bubble MVP:
G – Damian Lillard

Note: the MVP nod gives Dame an automatic slot in the All-Bubble team.

Sorry, Devin Booker, but Damian Lillard was just on a different planet.

Actually, we should’ve been ready for what Dame had in store. Prior to the official announcement of the NBA’s restart, he was immediately adamant in saying that he won’t play “meaningless games” that won’t give his Portland Trail Blazers a real chance for a playoff spot.

Then, in his birthday celebration inside the bubble last July 15th, his “wish” was asking his teammates not to waste each other’s time in Disney.

Once the seeding games started, Dame just proceeded to go for the kill, especially in the home stretch. He had video game-like numbers of 51, 61, and 42 points in his last three games with a 56% / 48.8% / 95.3% shooting split.

G – Devin Booker

Joining Lillard in the other guard spot is the bubble MVP runner-up. It’s the next best recognition Devin Booker can get after his strong run unfortunately coincided with Lillard’s rampage, but there was no denying that D-Book was the best player on the best team.

Booker stringed together 27, 30, 35, 20, 35, 35, 35, and 27 points in the bubble, and shot 50% or better six out of eight times, all while leading the Phoenix Suns to a perfect 8-0 record.

Among his best highlights was that buzzer-beating game-winner over Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

He also turned this Bleacher Report article, who basically said Phoenix will go winless in the restart, into a super freezing cold take.

F – Luka Doncic

The Dallas Mavericks’ second-year All-Star is leading the forward slot. Luka Doncic simply did what he’s been doing for the past two seasons – fill the stat sheet with his all-around production.

The Slovenian wonderboy racked up three triple-doubles in the bubble, which is more than what the whole league had…combined. In one of his best performances yet, he outdueled reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, and lifted Dallas to a thrilling overtime victory over the league-leading Milwaukee Bucks.

Luka and the Mavs only went 3-5 in the seeding games, but he was too prolific not to be included in the bubble team. He averaged 32 points, 11 rebounds, and 11.3 assists per game in his first six bubble games.

F – TJ Warren

TJ Warren is of the fans’ newest favorite players. How can he not be? He’s always been an under-the-radar solid player with likable playing style, who’s suddenly dropping big numbers.

Warren suddenly raised his play to a whole different level in the bubble, superbly filling the void left by injured All-Star teammate, Domantas Sabonis.

Entering the restart averaging a very decent 18.7 PPG, he erupted for 53, 34, and 32 points in his first three bubble games, and also dropped 39 points on 15-for-22 shooting against the West-leading Los Angeles Lakers. It included burying a dagger three-pointer right in Anthony Davis’s grill.

C – Giannis Antetokounmpo

The reigning MVP is rounding out the All-Bubble First Team despite a rocky showing from his Milwaukee Bucks, simply because The Greek Freak is still good even if he’s struggling. Maybe it’s a bit of a stretch, as he doesn’t play center often, but that’s actually the position he plays in the Bucks’ most potent lineup.

The NBA-leading Bucks only went 3-5 in the bubble, but Giannis tallied 31 points, 12.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.6 blocks per game on 63.5% shooting in that first five games.

He got ejected this past Wednesday after head-butting Mo Wagner of the Washington Wizards, which got him suspended for the bubble finale. Take not of that because it may be something that’ll turn Giannis into an even bigger and meaner animal moving forward.
