Despite having a comfortable lead in the series, Barangay Ginebra head coach Tim Cone insists that they’re still in trouble and there’s no time to be complacent heading into Game 3 of the Finals of the 2020 Philippine Cup.

The Kings once again came up clutch in Game 2 of the Philippine Cup Finals last night after being dominated through most of the game. TNT showcased a well-rounded performance but had another meltdown in the third and fourth quarters and blew a 15-point third quarter lead to lose 92-90.

Now, heading into Game 3, Barangay Ginebra has a 2-0 lead and the momentum on their side. This has led to fans and critics saying that Game 3 will be another Kings’ clinic.

However, Cone, who is the winningest coach in PBA history with 22 titles, recognizes that despite the 2-0 lead, they’re not out of the woods yet.

“2-0 means nothings against a team like Talk ‘n Text. I honestly, truly feel that at the bottom of my heart. The game was separated by a couple big time shots, we made it and they didn’t,” he said during the post-game press conference.

The Tropang Giga in the last two games had a stellar performance. Game 2 looked was theirs to lose, as they led by 15 points at one point without Ray Parks, their undoubted best player this season.

The biggest problem for TNT, however, is the inability to finish games. In both Finals appearances, they collapsed and had a meltdown in the clutch.

Despite the horrible performances of Tropang Giga in the closing moments, Cone is still focusing on the fact that they were dominated in big stretches over the last two games. They can’t let it happen again in Game 3 and beyond.

“How can we be comfortable at this point, knowing we played but they dominated us for two games and yet we were able to win,” he stated.

Game 3 of the series will be on Friday, December 4, at 6:00 p.m.
