It’s Luka Doncic and one of the best road teams in the league going up against Donovan Mitchell and one of the best home teams in the league. This should be a doozy.

HOME TEAM: Utah Jazz (31-13, 17-3 at home)

The Utah Jazz are the hottest team in the NBA. They are fresh-off two consecutive blowout victories and have also won 18 of their last 20 games (117.4 PPG, 50.3 FG% in that span). Both of those losses were pretty close too, so they are a couple of bounces away from an unprecedented 20-game winning streak.

Donovan Mitchell (24.7 PPG) and Bojan Bogdanovic (21.7 PPG) are continuing to be a deadly sweet-shooting, high-scoring tandem that has been a headache for defenses. They are finally getting consistent help from others, particularly Joe Ingles. The hard-nosed veteran has gotten his groove back and has been logging 15 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 3.1 threes per game over his last 20 outings.

Defensive anchor Rudy Gobert is also getting in the action offensively. The last six games has seen the three-time defensive player of the year put up 21.7 points, 15 boards, and 2.3 blocks on 74.6%-shooting.

ROAD TEAM: Dallas Mavericks (28-16, 15-5 on the road)

The Dallas Mavericks have won all but one of their last six games and they have scored 120 or more points four times in that stretch. The offensive explosion continued in Friday’s 133-125 win over the Portland Trail Blazers and it was their highest output in the said run.

As always, Luka Doncic is the man to watch in Dallas. He’ll again showcase a smooth, all-around  offensive game that virtually averages a 30-point triple-double but he ought to shoot better from three as he has only gone 5-for-23 in his two previous games.

Kristaps Porzingis scored 20 against the Blazers and will now be in his third game back from a knee injury. We’ll see if he’ll be back to playing heavy minutes. The Mavs’ coaching staff has limited him to 26.2 minutes since returning.

Tim Hardaway (16.3 PPG in January) and Seth Curry (13.5 PPG in January) will round out the team’s list of secondary scoring options.

PREDICTION:

The Jazz’s eight-game winning streak at home stays alive as they win, 116-111. Gobert versus Porzingis is interesting but expect a good show from Doncic and Mitchell.
