Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis are back in the Dallas Mavericks’ line-up, and they are in good position to move up three-zip in the season series.

HOME TEAM: San Antonio Spurs (24-32, 14-12 at home)

The Spurs are finally back home after a disastrous eight game road trip, where they only went 2-6 and allowed 120 or more points five times. It’s they type of stretch that doesn’t inspire much confidence, especially when coming up against a team that you have previously lost to twice.

DeMar DeRozan has solid numbers in the Mavs season series, but he’s the only Spur that’s posing a real threat to the defense. He’s averaging 28.5 points on a superb 62.5% shooting, which included a 36-point performance the first meeting back in November. DeRozan almost outscored his co-starters (37) in that game and the rest of the team only shot 39.4%.

LaMarcus Aldridge (16.5 PPG) and Rudy Gay (13.5 PPG) are the only other guys to be borderline decent in the match-ups. Even with DeRozan’s explosiveness and efficient shooting, all that doesn’t look to be enough help when trying to match what the Mavs have in store.

ROAD TEAM: Dallas Mavericks (35-23, 19-9 on the road)

On Tuesday, the Mavericks enjoyed the return of their two Euro stars – Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis – by bulldozing through the Minnesota Timberwolves, 139-123. They brought in offense right from the tip and opened up with 41 first quarter points. Seven guys ended up in double digits and the team combined for 16 three-pointers.

As always, Luka is the Maverick to watch. The 20-year-old has compiled a triple-double in the two games against the Spurs season series (33 PPG, 10.5 RPG, 10 APG), one of which was arguably his best performance all season – 42 points, 11 rebounds, 12 assists, five threes, 51.9 FG%.

Porzingis (18.5 PPG, 9.1 RPG), meanwhile, will look to be in rhythm again. He had three-straight 20-point games and it got halted by a nagging injury. In his return Tuesday, he scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds across 25 minutes. The limited playing time may be due to precautionary measures or the Mavs already locking up the win early.

Tim Hardaway Jr. will go back to leading the secondary weapons. He’s riding a good momentum as he is posting 21.8 points in his last nine outings, including two 33-point performances.

PREDICTION:

The Mavs are one of the best road teams in the league, as evident in their 19-9 record that is tied for third overall. They should be able to move past the sinking Spurs, 114-106.
