It’s old school versus new school as LeBron James and Zion Williamson are sharing the floor for the first time. Let’s hope the rims are extra strong for this one.

The Los Angeles Lakers lead the season series, 2-0, and they have won at home and on the road.

HOME TEAM: Los Angeles Lakers (43-12, 20-7 at home)

The Lakers outlasted the Boston Celtics in an entertaining back-and-forth on Monday, 114-112.  It was their third straight win at home and they are now on a six-game winning streak.

LeBron James has posted his usual numbers in the two match-ups against the Pelicans, averaging 23 points and 13 assists, perhaps to make way for former Pelican, Anthony Davis, who seems focused on putting a show in front of his ex-teammates and coaches – AD has compiled 43.5 PPG in the season series, scoring 41 and 46 points. He could be more relentless tomorrow as a way to show up Zion.

Kyle Kuzma reached double figures on Monday (16 pts) for only the second time in six games. It was also his highest output within that span. He’s the best scoring option outside the Lakers’ two superstars, and we’ll see if he’s officially back in that role.

ROAD TEAM: New Orleans Pelicans (25-32, 14-15 on the road)

The Pelicans used a red-hot fourth quarter run to beat the Golden State Warriors this past Sunday, 115-101. They scored 38 points on 16-for-23 shooting in the frame, including six three-pointers – something that the Dubs used to do.

Hotshot rookie Zion Williamson will be in his 13th NBA game tomorrow. He’s averaging 22.8 points and 7.2 rebounds while shooting 58.6% from the field on the season. We’ll see how he does under LA’s bright lights, which has an extra shine with LeBron and AD over at the other end.

The Pels’ leading scorer, Brandon Ingram (24.5 PPG) is out to co-headline the team’s charge. He, however, is hoping to finally have a decent performance against his former team. Though he scored 22 and 23 points in the two meetings, his combined shooting numbers are at a dreadful 14-for-48 (29.1%).

Veterans Jrue Holiday (19.4 PPG, 6.8 APG, 1.7 SPG) and JJ Redick (15.4 PPG) round out the Pelicans’ primary weapons, playing the role of floor general and sharpshooter, respectively.

PREDICTION:

The Lakers are fresh-off a hard-fought win, and it was one of the only handful of regular season games that LeBron takes seriously, so don’t be shocked to see him coast tomorrow.

That said, AD is there and it’s in front of the wild LA crowd. It should be enough. They win, 118-110.
