Away: Portland Trail Blazers (1-3)
Projected Starting Five:
- Scoot Henderson
- Jrue Holiday
- Toumani Camara
- Deni Avdija
- Donovan Clingan
The Blazers are on the brink of elimination after losing in Game 4 on Monday at home, 114-93. They went winless at home in Games 3 and 4, and their season could be ending in enemy territory this Wednesday.
That being said, the Blazers’ only win in the series to date came in Game 2 at San Antonio to the tune of a 106-103 score. Scoot Henderson made 31 points in that contest before dropping 21 in Game 4.
He plunged hard to earth in Game 4, finishing with zero points after missing all seven attempts from the field. But with the series shifting back to San Antonio, where he seemingly doesn’t mind the hostile environment, Henderson could be back in his best form in a win-or-go-home situation.
As a team, Portland will have to do a better job of protecting the leather after committing 18 turnovers in Game 4.
Home: San Antonio Spurs (3-1)
Projected Starting Five:
- De’Aaron Fox
- Stephon Castle
- Devin Vassell
- Julian Champagnie
- Victor Wembanyama
The Spurs were down by as many as 19 points in Game 4 but found a way to win by 21.
That shows how quickly San Antonio can flip the switch and how unstoppable they are when they get it going.
Victor Wembanyama returned from a one-game absence due to a concussion and fired 27 points with 12 rebounds and seven blocks in Game 4. In other words, he is fine and should be a huge headache again for the Blazers this Wednesday.
Meanwhile, De’Aaron Fox dropped 28 points on 11/17 shooting in the win. With a golden opportunity to send the Blazers packing and advance to the next round of the NBA Playoffs, expect San Antonio’s closeout game to be tested.
But with Wembanyama, Fox and a deep and talented supporting cast, the Spurs surely have what it takes to finish Portland. So far in the series, the Spurs are shooting 47.1 FG% while holding the Blazers to just 41.7 FG%.
