Sitting atop the Western Conference, the Golden State Warriors look to strengthen their record with a road win against the San Antonio Spurs, who have been solid at home.
Catch the game tomorrow at 9:30 AM, Manila time.
AWAY: Golden State Warriors (12-3, 7-2 AWAY)
Projected starting five:
- Stephen Curry
- Brandin Podziemski
- Andrew Wiggins
- Draymond Green
- Trayce Jackson-Davis
The West-leading Warriors are 5-1 in their last six games. In that stretch, they are putting 116.7 points per game on the board while giving up 109.3 in return.
Much of the Dubs’ recipe to success this season is they are not requiring their 36-year-old franchise player, Stephen Curry, to do the heavy-lifting. While he’s still the number one option and is producing 22.7 points and 6.6 assists per game, alongside 1.8 steals–his highest since 2018–there’s help everywhere.
First, Buddy Hield racked up seven 20-plus point games in his first eight outings as a Warrior, and now, Andrew Wiggins is rolling, posting 22, 27, and 30 points in his last three games. Beyond that, there are scattered contributions from Jonathan Kuminga (13.3 PPG), Trayce Jackson-Davis, Moses Moody, and Brandin Podziemski. All chip in nicely to complement Curry and whoever’s the no. 2 guy for the night.
HOME: San Antonio Spurs (8-8, 7-3 HOME)
Projected starting five:
- Chris Paul
- Devin Vassell (out) / Julian Champagnie
- Harrison Barnes
- Jeremy Sochan (out) / Keldon Johnson
- Victor Wembanyama (day-to-day) / Zach Collins
Despite Victor Wembanyama (knee) being absent for the last three games, and Devin Vassell and Jeremy Sochan out for a while now, the Spurs are on the .500 mark and head to tomorrow having won four of their last six games. They average 116.5 PPG and allow 113.0 on the other side across that span.
Vasell and Sochan remain sidelined, and Wemby’s status for Sunday is unclear, and as such, it will be anyone’s as to who between Keldon Johnson, Julian Champagnie, Harrison Barnes, and rookie Stephon Castle will lead the team in scoring. The four have been taking turns leading the charge for the time being.
As per usual, veteran floor general Chris Paul is directing the offense and is making guys more active and prolific, perhaps why four different Spurs are netting double-digit points per game outside of Wemby, Vassell, and Sochan.
Castle is the group’s most intriguing piece due to his potential and mentorship under the Spurs organization and Paul. He has 14.9 PPG and 5.3 APG in his last eight games.
