The season series is tied at one game apiece and both duels were won decisively. It’s also another interesting face-off between two young stars: Luka Doncic and Ja Morant.

HOME TEAM: Dallas Mavericks (38-25, 17-14 at home)

The Mavericks will be coming off a 127-123 overtime win against the New Orleans Pelicans. They are still looking to establish a consistent rhythm, though, as they have been alternating wins and losses in their last five games.

What’s sure, however, is the improving tandem of Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. The latter is averaging 27.8 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks in his last 12 games, which includes a double double performance over the Memphis Grizzlies last February 6th, where he tallied 32 points, 12 boards, and five three-pointers. Luka, meanwhile, is fresh-off a strong triple double of 30 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assists.

Secondary scorers Tim Hardaway Jr. and Seth Curry are also balling as of late, with THJ posting 21.9 points and 3.8 threes in his last 10 outings and Curry posting 28.3 points and 5.7 threes on a superb 70.5% shooting across his last three.

ROAD TEAM: Memphis Grizzlies (31-31, 14-17 on the road)

The Grizzlies are riding a dominant three-game winning streak and looking more and more like a worthy playoff team. They have won by 17, 39, and 39 points in those victories and held opponents to just 35.5% shooting.

With Jaren Jackson out with a sprained left knee, Ja Morant is doing a good job leading the charge. The rookie is maintaining his strong campaign for the Rookie of the Year award, averaging 17.6 points and 7.0 assists on 49.1% shooting on the season.

Third-year forward Dillon Brooks is in the mix as he is continuing his breakout year. He’s scoring 20.6 points in his last five. Jonas Valanciunas, meanwhile, is holding it down in the paint with 14.5 points and 11.1 rebounds.

PREDICTION:

The Grizzlies defense will be challenged well by the Mavericks, who, despite being inconsistent lately, are more than capable of delivering solid offense. Look for a Luka-Morant duel.

I expect the Mavs to win a close battle, 113-110.
