In A’ja Wilson, the Aces trust. The four-time WNBA Most Valuable Player was simply unstoppable in Game 1 of the series, as Wilson smoked the Fever with an unreal performance, scoring 28 points on 15/19 shooting from the field, while grabbing 16 rebounds and swatting away four Indiana shots in 35 minutes of action. 

Wilson is always going to be a problem for any opponent, and it doesn’t seem the Fever have the answer for her. And focusing all their defensive attention on Wilson will not work either for Indiana, as she’s surrounded by talented players who are all ready to step up and hit shots when called on. 

In the series opener, Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray provided 21 and 14 points, respectively, for the Aces, who defeated the Fever the last time these teams met in Indiana on Aug. 7, to the tune of an 86-84 score (via OT).

The Fever don’t have time to sulk over their Game 1 loss to Las Vegas. On the brink of elimination, Caitlin Clark and company will look to feed off the energy of their home crowd this Wednesday.  

The Fever can also draw motivation from the fact that they defeated the reigning champions twice in three regular-season meetings. And based on the aforementioned most recent showdown between these teams in Indiana, the Fever nearly swept the Aces in the regular season. 

Obviously, the Fever have to find a solution to their A’ja Wilson, but Bam Adebayo isn’t walking through that door for them. Improved offense and better ball security can go a long way, though, for Indiana, which turned the ball over 17 times in Game 1, which were converted into 28 points by the Aces. The home crowd could also be a huge factor in favor of the Fever, who will battle the nerves of an elimination game.
