Away: Indiana Fever (12-9, 4-5 Away)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Tyasha Harris
  • Lexie Hull
  • Kelsey Mitchell
  • Aliyah Boston
  • Monique Billings

Indiana will look to avenge the loss it suffered the last time the Fever and the Mercury shared the court. Back on June 25, the Fever absorbed a 111-109 defeat at the hands of Phoenix at home despite Kelsey Mitchell going off on offense. Mitchell erupted for 30 points on 11/16 shooting from the field in that contest, including a 7/9 line from behind the arc.

Aliyah Boston also came up big, albeit in a losing effort, scoring 23 points with nine boards. That came can be best remembered for the controversial non-call on Alyssa Thomas’s action on Caitlin Clark, who later left the game with an injury. Clark missed games after that and will miss this rematch against Thomas and company. Boston, however, will be available after sitting out Thursday’s 106-92 road loss to the Los Angeles Sparks. It should also be noted that Indiana defeated the Mercury in the first meeting, 86-77, at the Fever’s home.

Home: Phoenix Mercury (8-14, 3-7 Home)

Projected Starting Five:

  • DeWanna Bonner
  • Alyssa Thomas
  • Noemie Brochant
  • Kahleah Copper
  • Lexi Held

The Mercury had been on a roll before their winning streak was doused with cold water in a 77-66 loss to the Chicago Sky at home on Wednesday. Phoenix had won three games in a row before falling prey to the Sky, so their mission this time is to get back right away to their winning ways.

Kahleah Copper has been playing at a high level lately, notwithstanding the loss to the Sky, where she also dropped 25 points on 9/19 shooting from the field and 4/10 from deep. Over the last four Phoenix outings, Copper put up 27.5 points, while shooting an exceptional 56.9 percent from the floor despite also taking 5.5 shots from 3-point country.

That stretch includes her 28-point outburst in the aforementioned Phoenix victory over the Fever on the strength of a 15/16 shooting from the foul line.
