The tournament is now down to its last two teams who will be competing for the title. These two teams have faced twice for the entire tournament as they have been seeded in the same group and met again in the playoffs. They have an even 3-3 win-loss record through those two meetings.

Team Empire’s victory however seemed to be the more important win as they won the upper bracket final to secure the first slot into the grand finals while forcing OG Seed to fall into the lower bracket. With OG Seed sweeping the only team that gave them a loss during the group stage in Family Team during the lower bracket finals, they managed to get into the grand finals to have a rematch with their familiar foe.

Previous Match Results and Statistics

During the group stage, OG Seed dropped game 1 of the series to Team Empire, Mastery, EcNart-, and jAM3S came up big as the supporting cast of this game by rotating constantly to find early kills with Lightless’ Queen of Pain. With this much happening around the map their carry in tatakae’s Morphling was provided enough space to farm to put the nail in the coffin with his Ethereal Blade into the Adaptive Strike shotgun combo.

OG Seed however was able to turn the tide and complete a reverse sweep against Team Empire ending game 2 in just 24 minutes. The team’s triple-core team composition in QoP, Kunkka and Juggernaut were just too much for Team Empire to handle. The third game was the proof as to how evenly matched this two teams are. The game ended with a deadlock in terms of kill score and it took almost an hour for a team to call GG.

In their most recent encounter in the upper bracket finals, Team Empire gave OG Seed a taste of their own medicine as the prior team mounted reverse sweep as well after dropping the first game.

These two teams seem to share the same winning condition, their victory lies in the performance of their safe lane carries in Madara and Smiling Knight. In all of the wins of these two teams, the team that came out on top always had their safe lane carry get a better KDA score as compared to the opposing team. In game 1 of their playoff match, Madara’s Phantom Assassin had 15 kills and 9 assists while only suffering 3 deaths. For games two and three which Team Empire won, it was all about Smiling Knight who accumulated a total of 31/2/20 in in just games 2 and 3 combined while sitting at the top of the net worth for both teams for all three games despite their game 1 loss.

Predictions

The betting lines suggest Team Empire to be the heavy favorites for this match as the one map advantage given to the upper bracket winner is definitely looking to be a huge advantage. If Team Empire continue to ride the win-streak momentum that they got from the last game of the group stage and the entire playoff round, they may come away with the win here especially with the one map advantage.

OG Seed is not a team to count out of contention though despite the one map handicap as they have proved that they can beat Team Empire. Although, it may be difficult for them as they little room for mistakes in this series. Madara needs to bring his A-game if they want to win it all along with a solid and consistent performance from Chessie in the midlane, because he’ll need to attract enough attention in the early to mid-game to enable Madara to farm and carry in the late game.
