The world has been in quarantine for over 40 days now due to the coronavirus pandemic. Things are reaching Groundhog Day levels as every day is getting pretty repetitive, so everyone’s doing what they can to maintain sanity.

For Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon, it’s about rapping, shooting a music video, and sending a direct shot to the foe he unexpectedly made back in February: Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade.

The overall production of the song and the video is actually good, better than some rappers even.

As you know, ‘9 out of 10’ is in reference to the controversial incident at the Slam Dunk Competition, where he finished second thanks to Wade’s suspect scoring.

A refresher on what happened: Gordon and Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr. were in a classic match-up in the showcase’s final round. Both displayed an array of air-defying, flair-filled dunks, which included Gordon jumping over people and throwing it down in various angles, and Jones Jr. doing between-the-legs dunks while adding some modifications.

In one of Jones Jr.’s round, he did something that has never been done before in the event. He caught the ball off-the-backboard, put it between his legs, and jumped over someone who’s under the rim – and he made it in his very first attempt. That swayed the momentum on his side.

Later, while needing 48 points to tie and 49 to win, Gordon upped the ante of his stunt by bringing in Boston Celtics center Tacko Fall, who, at 7’5, is currently the tallest player in the NBA. The towering height didn’t matter as Gordon was able to clear the giant good enough to complete the slam.

With the crowd going nuts and believing that the Magic high-flyer is about to bring home the dunk title, the scoreboard flashed (Wade pun intended): he only got a 47 from the judges. Wade, along with Chadwick Boseman and Scottie Pippen, only gave him a 9. Unfortunately for Wade, though, the public chose to turn on him but not on the other two, mainly since he played with Jones Jr. in Miami and they perceived it as some classic rigging for his former teammate.

What followed is a hardcore trolling from the fans – ‘9 out of 10’ became a meme and people have been commenting the phrase to Wade’s social media posts ever since. The Heat legend has said the constant mocking doesn’t bother him at all, but he did respond to Gordon’s diss track via Twitter. There was a hint of him wanting to remind everyone who’s superior in the growing beef.
