Finals bound?

After getting shockingly thrashed in Game 1 by a whopping 34 points, Barangay Ginebra has regained its footing and confidence. The Gin Kings retaliated by beating Northport in Games 2 and 3 by 25 and 27 points, respectively.

Ginebra is in prime position to continue easing past the opposition. Along with great momentum is having an all-time head coach in Tim Cone, a beast of an import in Justin Brownlee, and a pool of top-notch, playmaking locals.

Brownlee, through his do-it-all style of play, is averaging 27.9 points, 13.3 rebounds, 8.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. He’s also coming off a 41-point performance.

Japeth Aguilar, LA Tenorio, and Scottie Thompson will continue leading the locals. However, it’s always anyone’s guess which of the group is going to be the second scorer, and that’s one of the more dangerous aspects of the team.

Can Northport shock the world again?

Northport Batang Pier has landed back to earth after leaving it for about a week, when they knocked off the number one seed NLEX Road Warriors and then put on a show in Game 1 against Ginebra.

The last two losses featured both sides of the spectrum. In Game 2, they got dominated by simply playing awful and being rocked by an angry, vengeful Gin Kings squad. In Game 3, they played better, shot and moved the ball well, but the result was the same. They were eventually outclassed by the more experienced and battle-tested team.

Nevertheless, expect great effort from import Michael Qualls, Sean Anthony, and Christian Standhardinger for Game 4. They lead a solid upstart team that can quickly grow and cause problems throughout the league.

PREDICTION:

Ginebra closes out the series with a 110-100 victory.
