The TNT Tropang 5G will try to keep their position in the upper tier of the standings to end the workweek, as RR Pogoy and company go for their third win this conference. Meanwhile, the Titan Ultra Giant Risers will attempt to score another win at the expense of an MVP group franchise to end a two-game losing streak.

TNT Tropang 5G (2-1)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Roger Pogoy
  • Calvin Oftana
  • Glenn Khobuntin
  • Kelly Williams
  • Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser

Behind RR Pogoy’s hot hands, TNT immediately recovered from a loss to the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel. Last Saturday, Pogoy poured in 27 points on a 10-for-22 shooting from the field, including six made shots from behind the arc to power the Tropang 5G to a 110-103 victory over the Converge FiberXers. Calvin Oftana added 18 points, while Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser and the ageless Kelly Williams each produced 14 points.

The 3-point shot was once again a big ally for TNT in the Converge game. The Tropang 5G drained 20 of their 43 3-point tries. And on the season, they are No. 1 in the league so far with a prolific average of 15.0 3-pointers per contest on a high 40.5 percent success rate. Their outside shot will continue to be a weapon for TNT, as the team next faces the Giant Risers, whose defense isn’t showing much life this conference. Titan Ultra’s 119.1 defensive rating is the worst in the league to date.

Titan Ultra Giant Risers (1-2)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Jerrick Balanza
  • Joshua Munzon
  • Ato Ular
  • Jeo Ambohot
  • Chris Koon

Titan Ultra is now on a skid. The Giant Risers failed to follow up on their successful season opener as they have now dropped two games in a row after beating the Meralco Bolts on Oct. 8. After losing to Converge (129-92), the Giant Risers suffered a 127-119 setback at the hands of the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots. As mentioned, Titan Ultra’s defense has been horrible. Converge and Magnolia had their way carving up the Giant Risers, and that’s not a good sign for their chances against the high-powered TNT side.

But Titan Ultra can also bring it offensively, as it’s currently ranked fourth overall with an average of 96.0 points per game. Joshua Munzon is a true bucket-getter. He is leading Titan Ultra with 24.3 points per game, though he isn’t getting much support. Apart from Calvin Abueva and Munzon, no other Giant Riser is putting up more than 9.0 points per outing. And speaking of Abueva, “The Beast’s” status for the TNT game seems to be up in the air after he sat out the meeting with Magnolia with a hamstring issue.
