TNT Tropang 5G (1-2)
Projected Starting Five:
- Simon Enciso
- Jordan Heading
- Kim Aurin
- Calvin Oftana
- Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser
There is no reason to panic still for TNT despite suffering a 95-89 loss in Game 3 to trail in the series for the first time. This Finals matchup was expected to be tightly contested, and it shows in how it’s being played so far. The Tropang 5G had plenty of moments in Game 3, as they looked poised to retake the series lead. That was until CJ Perez took over late in the contest. Nevertheless, TNT remains a tough out for the Beermen.
Jordan Heading had a double-double of 15 points and 11 assists in Game 3, while Calvin Oftana and Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser had 25 and 15 points, respectively. Those are great signs for the Tropang 5G, as the series gets into its more crucial parts. Perhaps the same can be said about their outside shooting, as TNT could be in for a big bounce back from deep after going just 9/24 from the 3-point area in Game 3.
San Miguel Beermen (2-1)
Projected Starting Five:
- Chris Ross
- CJ Perez
- Jericho Cruz
- Moala Tautuaa
- June Mar Fajardo
The Beerman took a stumble in Game 1, but they have responded to that loss as though TNT owed them lunch — and dinner, merienda, etc. In Game 2, CJ Perez dealt the knockout blows to the Tropang 5G down the stretch to lead San Miguel to a victory. Perez scored 17 of his 20 points in Game 2 in the fourth quarter, including two back-breaking shots from downtown. Meanwhile, June Mar Fajardo scored 16 points and grabbed 27 (not a typo) rebounds.
And as he typically does, Don Trollano proved to be a great source of offense off the bench again for SMBm as the former Adamson Falcons star put up 19 points, while Marcio Lassiter added 10 points off the pine. Now that they have taken control of the series with a 2-1 advantage, San Miguel has a golden opportunity to push TNT to the edge this Wednesday.
