The San Miguel Beermen and the Magnolia Chicken Timplados headline Sunday’s doubleheader at Ynares Center in Pasig. Will the Beermen pull off a shocker and upset Magnolia? Or, will the Hotshots keep their slate immaculate with another victory?

Catch this game live on Sunday,  July 9 at 7:30 pm, Manila time.

San Miguel Beermen (3-6)

Projected Starting Five:

  • PG: Jayvee Dela Cruz
  • SG: Jericho Cruz
  • SF: Allyn Bulanadi
  • PF: Rodney Brondial
  • C: Nonoy Baclao

The Beermen have finally recovered from their drunken stupor in the PBA on Tour, as they ended a five-game losing skid by demolishing the TNT Tropang Giga on Friday, 111-74. Three players scored at least 20 points for San Miguel against TNT, led by Marvin Lee, who sprinkled 22 points across nearly 25 minutes of action. Allyn Bulanadi and Jericho Cruz, meanwhile, each had 20 points. That’s a terrific form to have for the Beermen, as they go from a matchup against a winless squad to a showdown versus an undefeated side in the form of the Hotshots.

San Miguel is hoping that its outside shooting is still lethal two days after the Beermen went 13/30 from deep in the TNT game. So far in the PBA on Tour, the Beermen are making 8.78 3-pointers per game on 33 3FG%.

Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots (7-0)

Projected Starting Five:

  • PG: Paul Lee
  • SG: Jerrick Ahanmisi
  • SF: Rome Dela Rosa
  • PF: Jackson Corpuz
  • C: James Laput

The Hotshots are dominating the PBA on Tour as though the rest of the league stole their lunch. Magnolia remains undefeated, as they collected their seventh win in a row by taking down the Meralco Bolts last Sunday, 121-101. Prior to that, the Hotshots pummeled the NorthPort Batang Pier in a 125-89 victory.

Paul Lee came off the bench and torched the Bolts for 28 points. So far in the PBA on Tour, Lee is averaging 14.5 points, while Jerrick Ahanmisi is leading the Hotshots with 14.71 points per outing. One player who’s sort of having a breakout is big man James Laput, who had a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds versus Meralco. He is averaging 12.29 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 1.14 blocks per game.

PREDICTION:

Spread: Magnolia (-10.5) covers the spread.

Over/Under: The total (197.5) hits the Over.
