The San Miguel Beermen and the Converge FiberXers are both undefeated, but someone’s “O” has got to go in this midweek clash in Antipolo. Read on for more about this game.

San Miguel Beermen (2-0)

The Beermen took advantage of a soft schedule in their first two games, as they demolished the Macau Giant Pandas (123-109) and the Terrafirma Dyip (109-104). San Miguel import George King played like, well, a reinforcement in the Dyip game, dropping 37 points on 9/19 shooting from the field while grabbing 14 rebounds. 

Meanwhile, CJ Perez and Don Trollano had 22 and 17 points, respectively. Junemar Fajardo returned after missing the conference opener against Macau, but only scored 2 points on 1/4 shooting versus Terrafirma. Nevertheless, he’ll be a big threat to Converge, literally and figuratively. He could benefit from some more extra touches as well, with Converge expected to have a target on King’s back following his eruption in the Terrafirma showdown.

San Miguel has won all of its last three matchups against the FiberXers, dating back to the previous edition of the Governors’ Cup.

Converge FiberXers (3-0)

Like the Beermen, Converge also racked up wins against minnows early in the conference. They defeated the Titan Ultra Giant Risters (105-74), Terrafirma (105-103) and Macau (149-124) for a 3-0 start. 

But they have yet to face a perennial title contender, which is what they are getting in this matchup ag against the Beermen. Justin Arana gave the Pandas giant black eyes with a bonkers double-double effort of 39 points and 12 rebounds, while seven other FiberXers finished with at least 10 points.

Converge can score a bunch of points with several options on offense, and that’s with Jalen Hudson yet to find his rhythm in the PBA. Hudson is flirting with a one-way ticket back to the States with how he’s been playing thus far. Through three games, he’s averaged just 11.3 points on a brutal 29.4 percent shooting from the floor. This game against a PBA blue blood presents an opportunity for Hudson to prove he’s worth keeping for the FiberXers.
