San Miguel Beermen (7-2)
Projected Starting Five:
- Chris Ross
- CJ Perez
- Don Trollano
- Rodney Brondial
- Junemar Fajardo
The Beermen are back in Manila after a successful provincial game last Saturday against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters at the Cagayan De Oro City Convention Center in Cagayan De Oro City. CJ Perez exploded for 33 points to lead the Beermen to a 120-111 win over Rain or Shine while CJ Trollano and Junemar Fajardo had 24 and 20 points, respectively. Perez and Fajardo are the usual suspects for San Miguel, but Trollano has always had that ace-in-the-hole factor.
Trollano’s production against his former team also highlights San Miguel as more than just a Perez-Fajardo team. Then again, it’s hard to deny the big impact of those two players on San Miguel’s success. Perez is leading the PBA in this conference with an average of 24.0 points per game, while Fajardo is a constant mismatch problem who’s got the potent mix of skills, talent and size. The Beermen are also pacing the rest of the league with a 48.7 percent shooting from the floor.

Converge FiberXers (6-4)
Projected Starting Five:
- Alec Stockton
- Schonny Winston
- King Caralipio
- Justine Baltazar
- Justin Arana
The FiberXers have been guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, but they are on the outside looking in of the top four spot in the standings. A top-four finish in the elimination phase would give Converge a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals, so expect them to keep their foot on the gas for this showdown against San Miguel. The FiberXers will enter the San Miguel game coming off a 117-103 takedown of the Terrafirma Dyip, a nice rebound from an 88-83 loss to the NLEX Road Warriors.
Justin Baltazar can expect to have his hands full in the frontcourt this Wednesday versus Fajardo. But he can also create problems for San Miguel. Against Terrafirma, Baltazar had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Together with Justin Arana, Converge has the muscle and length to make things happen down low – on both ends. Baltazar is also the leading rebounder in the league this season with 12.4 boards per outing and his nine double-doubles are the most in the conference.
