The Terrafirma Dyip will try again to score their first win of the 2024 Governors’ Cup, as they go up against the Meralco Bolts. The Bolts are coming off a loss as well and they will have a good opportunity to bounce back against the winless Terrafirma side.

Meralco Bolts (1-1)
Projected Starting Five:
- Chris Banchero
- Chris Newsome
- Kier Quinto
- Allen Durham
- Brandon Bates
Meralco suffered its first loss of the season last Aug. 22 when the Bolts were crushed by sister team TNT Tropang Giga, 99-73. The Bolts were slowed down in that contest by the injuries suffered by Chris Newsome.
He hurt his knee in the first quarter and ankle in the third. Newsome reportedly did not suffer a serious injury, but he can be viewed as questionable ahead of Wednesday’s meeting with the winless Dyip. If he can’t go, more minutes from the likes of Kier Quinto and Aaron Black can be expected. Either way, the Bolts will want to see more from import Allen Durham, who hasn’t been producing like old times for the Bolts. He only had eight points in the TNT game, though, he pulled down 10 boards.
Meralco, which won its first game of the conference against the Magnolia Chicken Timplados, 99-94, is 2-0 in its last two meetings with Terrafirma.

Terrafirma Dyip (0-2)
Projected Starting Five:
- Juami Tiongson
- Stanley Pringle
- Andreas Cahilig
- Antonio Hester
- Christian Standhardinger
Terrafirma has two of the greatest players to ever play in the PBA, but they remain winless through two games in the conference. After losing to the Converge FiberXers, 127-95, in their opener, the Dyip got crushed again last Aug. 23 by the NorthPort Batang Pier, 112-93. Even with the arrival of Christian Standhardinger and Stanley Pringle, Terrafirma is having a hard time farming victories.
But just like a farmer, the Dyip will get back up and try again to cultivate success this Wednesday. Standhardinger only had 10 points and was minus-25 in the loss to NorthPort. He’s too good to play that poorly two games in a row, but others have to step up as well. In the loss to NorthPort, the Dyip’s bench was massively outscored by the Batang Pier’s reserves, 61-29. This early in the conference, Standhardinger might already be missing the good old days with the Barangay.
