Will Saturday be the day that the Terrafirma Dyip finally get a W? Terrafirma only has three games remaining on their schedule, so they are running out of chances to prevent a winless conference. Meanwhile, the Converge FiberXers are eyeing to strengthen their record to make the top four in Group A.

Catch this game live on Saturday,  September 14 at 7:30 pm, Manila time.

Converge FiberXers (3-4)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Alec Stockton
  • John De Los Santos
  • Scotty Hopson
  • Kevin Racal
  • Justin Arana

Converge snapped a three-game losing streak and gave its chances to make the playoffs a big shot in the arm by defeating the NorthPort Batang Pier last Wednesday, 107-99. The FiberXers must feel good about their odds to win back-to-back games for the first time in the conference with Terrafirma sharing the court with them this Saturday. Converge’s first win this conference was its 127-95 demolition job of the Dyip on August 21. Nearly a month later, Terrafirma remains a picture of futility with zero victories to show heading into the weekend.

Converge will look to rely again on import Scotty Hopson who exploded for 46 points in the Terrafirma game, while also nailing three 4-pointers. But Hopson can expect plenty of help from the locals, given the momentum Alec Stockton and company had versus NorthPort. Stockton had 21 points while three other Converge locals scored at least 10 points.

Terrafirma Dyip (0-7)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Stanley Pringle
  • Tommy Olivario
  • Philip Cahilig
  • Antonio Hester
  • Christian Standhardinger (Questionable)

Terrafirma just wants to win. With seven losses, the Dyip are virtually phased out of title contention. They are coming off a near-upset against the Magnolia Chicken Timplados, which was probably more about the shaky status of Paul Lee and company than actual improvement on the part of Terrafirma.

In their 99-98 loss to Magnolia on Thursday, the Dyip got a monster output of 39 points from Antonio Hester. Terrafirma is a team with nothing to lose, and that can spell danger for Converge. Kevin Ferrer and Stanley Pringle scored 18 and 17 points, respectively, versus Magnolia. With Juami Tiongson done for the rest of the Governors’ Cup due to a hamstring injury and Christian Standhardinger probably missing another game due to a leg issue, Terrafirma will have to continue asking for more from Heste, Pringle, and Ferrer, who combined for 55 points in the first meeting with Converge.
