The Converge FiberXers and the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel meet for the first time this conference – and first as well since their playoff showdown in the previous conference. Will Converge pull the rug from under the crowd favorites? Or, will the Barangay continue their mastery of Converge?

Converge FiberXers (1-3)
Projected Starting Five:
- Mikey Williams
- Alec Stockton
- Jonnel Policarpio
- Justine Baltazar
- Kylor Kelley
The FiberXers are underperforming. After opening the campaign with a 102-94 victory over the Macau Black Knights, Coverge has gone on a downward spiral, having lost three games in a row, including a 103-99 defeat at the hands of the San Miguel Beermen on Wednesday.
It’s worth noting that the FiberXers did not have star guard Juan Gomez de Liano in that contest because of a bone contusion in his right knee. He still could be out for this Sunday’s showdown against Ginebra, putting more pressure on Mikey Williams to be Mikey Williams again. Williams has averaged just 6.0 points on a salty 22.2 FG% through four games, though he stepped it up in the San Miguel game with 11 points on 5/11 shooting.
Meanwhile, Converge’s offense is being led by Alec Stockton, who is putting up 17.0 points per outing.
Barangay Ginebra San Miguel (1-1)
Projected Starting Five:
- RJ Abarrientos
- Stephen Holt
- Justin Brownlee
- Troy Rosario
- Japeth Aguilar
Like the FiberXers, Ginebra kicked off its journey in this conference by handing Macau a beating, 110-93. However, the Barangay failed to follow that win with another, as they were tripped up by the NLEX Road Warriors on Friday in a 118-113 loss. Justin Brownlee was Justin Brownlee as usual against NLEX, scoring 46 points on 16/22 shooting from the field, including four 3-pointers. He also went 12/14 inside the arc.
Unfortunately for Ginebra, he was everything they had on offense. RJ Abarrientos and Japeth Aguilar each had 14 points, while Troy Rosario added 11 points, but it was clear that Brownlee lacked local support. Considering the short turnaround from that NLEX game to this meeting with Converge, there could be concerns about fatigue for Ginebra. Then again, the conference has just started for them. Ginebra is also a veteran team that can figure it out against the struggling FiberXers.
