You wouldn’t have been able to tell that the Dallas Mavericks were a slight favorite coming into today’s game against the LA Lakers.

It felt more like a “You reach, I teach,” lesson from LeBron James to Luka Doncic.

Unlike their game against the Suns last week, which saw the Lakers almost blow a 36-point lead in the fourth quarter, James and his crew never looked back. They did it without Anthony Davis, who is still recovering from a fall.

A 45-27 first quarter set the tone for the game, with the Lakers completely dominating the Mavericks in every aspect of the game.

James (35 PTS, 16 REB, 7 AST) put on a clinic in Dallas, he shot 14 of 25 from the field and 3 of 6 from beyond the arc and was by far the best player on the floor. Kyle Kuzma, who’s been named in some trade rumors recently, didn’t show any mental effects and helped pour in a season-high 26 points for the visitors.

Luka Doncic (25 PTS, 10 REB, 7 AST) tried to carry the team, but the Laker blitzed him on defense the entire game, hounding and hammering him on what seemed like every possession.

Tim Hardaway Jr. (22 PTS, 7 REB) tried to help carry the load in the absence of Kristaps Porzingis but the Mavericks were simply overmatched.

The big 129-114 win today pushes LA’s record to 31-7, and this is the fourth time this season that they’ve won at least 7 games in a row. They’ll play the second game of a back-to-back against the Oklahoma City Thunder tomorrow.

For Lakers fan, the playoffs can’t come soon enough. LeBron James is playing some of his best basketball in years, and his leadership is clearly inspiring the Lake Show.
