The San Antonio Spurs ensured that there would be no embarrassing sweep in the 2026 NBA Finals with a win in Game 3, but that’s not their goal. Will the Spurs level the series with another win in the Big Apple? Or, will the Knicks go up 3-1?

Away: San Antonio Spurs (1-2)
Projected Starting Five:
- De’Aaron Fox
- Stephon Castle
- Devin Vassell
- Julian Champagnie
- Victor Wembanyama
Apparently, Victor Wembanyama just needed to sit down in a park and draw to calm his nerves and put the Knicks on blast in Game 3. The towering Spurs big man unloaded 32 points on 11/18 shooting and added eight rebounds and six assists in San Antonio’s 115-111 win at Madison Square Garden in Game 3. And once again, San Antonio outshot the Knicks at the free-throw line.
San Antonio is a plus-14 in terms of foul shots in the series, thus far. In any case, Wemby’s performance and response to a must-win game were a good sign for San Antonio. But it will take more than what Wembanyama can do for San Antonio to sustain its form. Dylan Harper will look to be the x-factor again after scoring 13 points, albeit on a 5/18 shooting in Game 3.
With their win in Game 3, the Spurs took away so much pressure from their shoulders heading into another game in enemy territory. It would have been a much different environment this Thursday if the Spurs had dropped Game 3.
Home: New York Knicks (2-1)
Projected Starting Five:
- Jalen Brunson
- Josh Hart
- Mikal Bridges
- OG Anunoby
- Karl-Anthony Towns
For the first time since the turn of the century, the Knicks played an NBA Finals home game on Tuesday. Still, the last time they won an Finals game in Gotham was in 1999. Nevertheless, Game 4 will be a fresh start for New York, and it hopes to see Karl-Anthony Towns rise to the challenge after getting outplayed by Wemby in Game 3.
Towns scored just 11 points on 4/10 shooting. He will have to be more aggressive in hunting for shots, because that was effective in the first two games, when he took a combined 27 attempts from the field. Meanwhile, Jalen Brunson put up 32 points in Game 3, but those were 32 inefficient points, as he shot only 11/25, while also turning the ball over five times. He was a minus-9 as well, the worst among all Knicks starters.
That’s not to mention Mikal Bridges, who disappeared with just two points. Perhaps the Knicks were bound to have a game like that after stitching together 13 wins in a row in the playoffs. A return to form in another home game can be fairly expected Thursday for New York.
