Away: San Antonio Spurs (12-5, 4-3 Away)

Projected Starting Five:

  • De’Aaron Fox
  • Devin Vassell
  • Julian Champagnie
  • Harrison Barnes
  • Luke Kornet

The Spurs are surely missing the services of Victor Wembanyama, who remains out with a calf issue, but they are still managing to keep their heads above water without the talented big man. Wembanyama has missed the last five Spurs games, yet San Antonio has won four of those outings, including a 115-102 victory on Thursday over the Portland Trail Blazers on the road. Guard De’Aarron Fox was instrumental in that Spurs win, as he popped for 37 points on an 11/25 shooting from the field and 12/12 from the charity stripe.

He also dished out eight assists and grabbed six rebounds in an all-around effort that San Antonio hopes it gets from him again this Saturday against another formidable opponent. Fox has been on another level of late, taking over on the court amid Wemby’s absence. In his last five games, the former Kentucky Wildcats star guard has put up 28.6 points on a 50% FG%. Veteran Harrison Barnes has also stepped up, proving that he’s still capable of providing meaningful numbers for his team. He’s scored 16.6 points on a 51.7 FG% and 37.9 3FG% in the same span.

Home: Denver Nuggets (13-4, 6-2 Home)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Jamal Murray
  • Cam Johnson
  • Spencer Jones
  • Peyton Watson
  • Nikola Jokic

After getting stunned by the Sacramento Kings in a 128-123 loss at home last Sunday, Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets vented out their frustration on the Memphis Grizzlies. Jokic stuffed the stat sheets with a triple-double of 17 points, 16 assists and 10 rebounds with two steals in a 125-115 win over the Grizzlies last Tuesday. Even though they are missing Christian Braun and Aaron Gordon because of injuries, the Nuggets remain a juggernaut on offense.

They are leading the league with an average of 123.8 points per game. Their 57.9 eFG% is also bested by no other team this season through Thursday. If Jokic is playing, Denver will always have an offense that’s going to put the opposing defense to the test. That’s not to mention that Jamal Murray is playing well of late, too. Another ex-Wildcats star, Murray has made 25.6 points on a 51.6 FG% and 46.3 FG% in the last five Nuggets games. Because of the 1-2 punch of Jokic and Murray, it is sometimes easy to forget that Denver can defend as well. The Nuggets are fifth in the league with a 52.2 defensive eFG%.
