All the Sacramento Kings want is a win, which they haven’t tasted in over two weeks. However, they have a tough assignment this Sunday, as they face the Denver Nuggets, who have defeated them twice already this season. Will the King avoid a regular-season sweep at the hands of Denver? Or, will the Nuggets pull off a stunner in Mile High City?

Breaking news: Being a Kings fan is still hard. Sacramento is on an eight-game losing skid after suffering a 137-96 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on the road on Friday. The Grizzlies didn’t have Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. in that game, but they still had a walk in the park against the hapless Kings, who remain with just a win on the road this season.
Even when considering the absence of Domantas Sabonis, that was still an embarrassing loss for the sliding Kings, who are in the bottom five in the league at the moment in scoring offense and scoring defense. On the season, Sacramento is just 25th in the league with just 111.0 points per game and 28th with 124.4 points allowed per contest.
Sabonis is going to be out still for multiple weeks because of a partially torn left meniscus, leaving the likes of Russell Westbrook, Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan to carry most of the load. Meanwhile, Keegan Murray made his season debut in the Grizzlies game after dealing with a thumb injury, and he scored 11 points on 5-for-13 shooting from the floor coming off the bench. He could be back in the starting lineup as soon as this Sunday, with perhaps less rust than he had versus Memphis.

Home: Denver Nuggets (12-3, 6-1 Home)
Projected Starting Five:
- Jamal Murray
- Cameron Johnson
- Peyton Watson
- Spencer Jones
- Nikola Jokic
The Nuggets have back-to-back duties to finish this Sunday. They are fresh off a 112-109 win against the Houston Rockets on the road on Saturday, leaving not much time for them to rest up their bodies. But at least they’ll be back home for a seemingly light opponent — and this time without Sabonis on the other side to deal with.
That should be music to the ears of Nikola Jokic, who lit up the Kings in the previous two meetings for an average of 34.5 points on an absurd 73.2 percent shooting from the field, 11.0 rebounds and 10.5 assists.
However, the Nuggets will be without Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun this time around. Both saw action in the two wins over Sacramento, providing a combined average of 35 points in those contests. Gordon exited early in the Rockets game due to a hamstring injury, while Braun remains sidelined with a left ankle sprain.
Still, just having Jokic around is already a huge plus for Denver, which is second in the league so far this season with 123.8 points per game. The Nuggets are also second overall in the NBA with a 50.8 percent shooting from the field.
