Away: Phoenix Suns (39-30, 17-17 Away)
Projected Starting Five:
- Collin Gillespie
- Devin Booker
- Jalen Green
- Royce O’Neale (Questionable)
- Oso Ighodaro
The Suns have lost steam of late, as they head into this meeting with San Antonio on a three-game losing streak. In their most recent outing, they got clobbered by the Minnesota Timberwolves on the road on Wednesday, 116-104. Phoenix is looking to recapture its shooting touch after making just 43.1% of its attempts from the field in the last three outings.
It is not about to get easier for Devin Booker and the Suns’ attack, as they will next deal with San Antonio’s elite defense, but it is also worth noting that Phoenix shot 58.2% in a 130-118 win over San Antonio at home last November. Moreover, the Suns also held Victor Wembanyama to just nine points on 4/14 shooting in that game.
The Suns have covered the spread in five of their last 10 trips in the regular season to San Antonio, dating back to 2021.
Home: San Antonio Spurs (51-18, 26-7 Home)
Projected Starting Five:
- De’Aaron Fox
- Stephon Castle
- Devin Vassell
- Julian Champagnie
- Victor Wembanyama
San Antonio is moving in the opposite direction of the Suns, having won three games in a row. Their last one was a 132-104 torture of the hapless Sacramento Kings on the road on Wednesday. It was an easy win for San Antonio, which had six players scoring at least 15 points.
Although the Spurs lost the first two encounters with Phoenix this season, they finally hit back hard with a 121-94 win at home in February. The Spurs appear to be a different animal now than the one Phoenix faced twice way back in November. Since February, the Spurs have gone 19-2 and averaged 123.7 points while holding opponents to only 111.0 points. This team looks like it has it all figured out and should pose a tough challenge for a skidding Suns side.
The Spurs are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 home games. That includes the February win over Phoenix.
