The New York Knicks have been winless on the road this season, and they will give it another shot this Wednesday against one of the worst teams in the league, in the form of the Dallas Mavericks. Will the Knicks find a way to avoid an upset on the road? Or, will the Mavericks keep New York without a W away from the Big Apple?

Away: New York Knicks (8-5, 0-4 Away)
Projected Starting Five:
- Jalen Brunson (Questionable)
- Mikal Bridges
- Landry Shamet
- Karl-Anthony Towns
- Mitchell Robinson
The Knicks will try to steady the boat again this Thursday, as they hope to get the services of star point guard Jalen Brunson back. The former Villanova Wildcats star has missed the last two Knicks games because of an ankle injury, but there’s hope that he’ll be able to suit up and play against his former team after being upgraded to questionable. If he can’t give it a go for the third straight contest, New York will likely give Miles McBride to start.
McBride isn’t Brunson, but he can light it up. He had 25 points with five 3-pointers in New York’s 115-113 loss to the Miami Heat in South Beach on Monday. But it’s Karl-Anthony Towns that New York will count on the most to show the Knicks the way. Towns is averaging 24.4 points per game while shooting 52.6 percent from the floor this season. And while the sample size is small, the Knicks have posted a 122.2 offensive rating in their last two games without Brunson — higher than their 120.5 offensive rating overall in the campaign.

Home: Dallas Mavericks (4-11, 3-7 Home)
Projected Starting Five:
- Brandon Williams
- Max Christie
- Cooper Flagg
- P.J. Washington
- Daniel Gafford {Questionable)
It is turning out to be a long season for Cooper Flagg and the Mavericks. Their wins have been few and far between so far, for the most part. After outlasting the Portland Trail Blazers for a 138-133 overtime victory at home on Monday, the Mavs got blown out by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Twin Cities on Tuesday, 120-96. But Dallas should benefit from a full day of rest on Wednesday before facing the Knicks.
Another good sign for Dallas, from at least a betting perspective, is the fact that it is 4-2 against the spread this season in games where the Mavericks are the home underdogs. Positives are harder to come by for the Mavericks than most other teams, but there is something good to say about their defense, which is fifth in the league through Wednesday with just 110.8 points allowed per 100 possessions. Dallas could also be getting back a couple of big bodies for the Knicks game, with Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively II expected to return after sitting out the meeting with Minnesota.
