The Miami Heat are off to a good start. They travel to Texas to take on a momentum-filled San Antonio Spurs squad, who’s blessed with a generational talent and a supporting cast that are collectively primed to take the next step.

Catch the game tomorrow, Friday, October 31st, at 8:30 AM, Manila time.

AWAY: Miami Heat (3-1, 1-1 ROAD)

Projected starting five:

  • Davion Mitchell
  • Norman Powell
  • Andrew Wiggins
  • Bam Adebayo
  • Kel’el Ware

The Heat have won three in a row after losing their season-opener – two of which were by 32 and 27 points. It’s a good confidence booster for a team that has been stuck in the play-in spots for years, especially since they are starting the year without All-Star guard Tyler Herro.

The other All-Star, big man Bam Adebayo, has been all over the floor as per usual, and he’ll have his work cut out for him tomorrow. Off-season acquisition Norman Powell, meanwhile, is contributing well, averaging 24.0 points and 2.0 steals on 50% shooting from three in six attempts per game. Third-year forward Jaime Jaquez Jr. is flexing too as he is at 18.8 PPG on 68.9% shooting thus far. Look for these three to be the catalysts.

Kel’el Ware isn’t living up to the preseason hype he generated, but there are flashes. It’ll be interesting to see his matchup with Victor Wembanyama. The same goes with Nikola Jovic, who continues to battle nagging injuries as he aims to move up  the charts. Finally, there’s defensive guard Davion Mitchell, who is in for a test against the Spurs’ dynamic guards.

HOME: San Antonio Spurs (4-0, 2-0 HOME)

Projected starting five:

  • Dylan Harper
  • Stephon Castle
  • Devin Vassell
  • Harrison Barnes
  • Victor Wembanyama

The upstart Spurs have racked up four-straight wins to start the season, tying a franchise record–yes, it’s pretty surprising a blue blood franchise like the Spurs have never gone 5-0.

Nevertheless, hope and excitement is through the roof with this group. Victor Wembanyama is a generational talent and a unicorn who is improving immensely, and he’s surrounded by reigning Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle, thriving 2025 second overall pick Dylan Harper, two-way swingman Devin Vassell, and a host of quality role players.

Wemby and company are very equipped in various areas, and they’re playing behind a hyped home crowd. Barring any off-nights from the main guys, they should be able to keep the Ws rolling, or at least for tomorrow.

But, of course, that’s not to say they won’t receive any challenge from the opposition–the Heat have plenty of tweener forwards that can be moved all over the floor and create strange mismatches in their favor.
