The Los Angeles Lakers will go for a regular-season sweep of the Golden State Warriors, but that can be easier said than done, especially after what Stephen Curry did in the last Dubs game.

The Warriors will get to see whether Stephen Curry is still hot after the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player roasted the Memphis Grizzlies for 52 points in a 134-125 Dubs road win last Wednesday. Curry and the Warriors are now on a three-game win streak, with their offense humming of late. 

Golden State is averaging 113.7 points per game this season but over its last three outings, the team has put up 131.0 points. That’s the kind of problem the Lakers will have to deal with this Friday. Although Los Angeles is 3-0 straight up this season against the Warriors, the Lakers have yet to face the new version of Golden State with Jimmy Butler injected into its lineup.  Meanwhile, Jonathan Kuminga, who missed the Grizzlies game, is questionable for the meeting with the Lakers but Golden State.

The Warriors have won seven of their last 10 road games while going 5-4-1 against the spread in those contests.

The Lakers also have some momentum going into this showdown with their division rivals. Los Angeles has won its last two games, including a 104-98 home win against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday. The Lakers flexed their depth in that game, with Dorian Finney-Smith and Gabe Vincent combining for 12 3-pointers and 40 points while coming off the bench.  

Los Angeles shot just 39.3 percent from the field versus Houston but it’s important to note that the Lakers fired 46 attempts from deep, making 16 of them. But it could be the Lakers’ defense that will spell the difference in their regular-season series finale against Golden State. The Lakers, who are 10th in the league with a 53.8 defensive effective field goal percentage, have held the Warriors to just 44.1 FG% this season. Curry also shot just 40.8 FG% in three games against LA.

The Lakers are 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 games as the home team.
