Away: Detroit Pistons (34-12, 15-7 Away)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Cade Cunningham
  • Duncan Robinson
  • Ausar Thompson
  • Tobias Harris
  • Jalen Duren

The Pistons will attempt to recover right away from their stumble in a 114-96 loss on the road at the hands of Dillon Brooks and the Phoenix Suns. Despite that defeat, Detroit has been among the elite in the league this season, with just 12 losses to its name.

The Pistons are not going to dominate every game, and that meeting with the Suns was just one of those nights for Cade Cunningham and company. Detroit was largely doomed in the Suns game by its ugly outside shooting, as the Pistons shot just 6/29 from behind the arc. Cunningham was also not in his top form, needing 22 shots from the floor to get to 26 points.

Again, it’s not always going to be like that for a talented team like Detroit, so perhaps the Pistons are due for a big offensive night in the Bay Area. In any case, they’ll be looking to show more effort on defense after getting torched by the Devin Booker-less Phoenix. On the season, Detroit is second in the league with just 108.9 points allowed per 100 possessions.

Home: Golden State Warriors (27-22, 17-7 Home)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Stephen Curry
  • Brandin Podziemski
  • Moses Moody
  • Draymond Green
  • Al Horford

Golden State returns home after a 140-124 drubbing of the lowly Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City on Thursday. This meeting with Detroit will also be the Warriors’ first at Chase Center since they suffered a 145-127 loss on Jan. 21 to the Toronto Raptors. The Dubs are still trying to find consistency in their play on the court in the aftermath of Jimmy Butler’s season-ending injury. Stephen Curry remains their go-to guy, but he’s been getting inconsistent production from the supporting cast.

However, Moses Moody has clearly stepped it up since Butler’s injury. In the last five games, Moody has averaged 15.4 points on a 51.8 FG%. He had 26 points on 9/15 shooting versus the Jazz, while Curry paced the team with 27.

Further hurting Golden State’s depth is the injury of Jonathan Kuminga, who might have already played his last game with the Warriors amid rampant trade rumors.  One positive sign for Golden State against the Pistons is the fact that the Warriors are 8-4 against the spread in games this season where they have the rest advantage.
