The Denver Nuggets and the Phoenix Suns are set to meet for the second time this season. A victory for Denver would mean a series win in the regular season for the Nuggets, but will the Suns make it interesting by beating their visitors? Or, will Denver double down on its mastery of the Suns?

Away: Denver Nuggets (13-5, 7-2 Away)
Projected Starting Five:
- Jamal Murray
- Cameron Johnson
- Spencer Jones
- Peyton Watson
- Nikola Jokic
The Nuggets took a stumble coming off Thanksgiving Day. In the league’s resumption following a one-day break, Denver got tripped up by the Victor Wembanyama-less San Antonio Spurs at home on Saturday in a 139-136 loss. With defense seemingly an option in the game, the Nuggets were outpaced on offense by San Antonio.
Still, Jamal Murray got his 37 points on 13-for-20 shooting, while Nikola Jokic had 21 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds. Consistency has been an issue of late for the Nuggets, who have gone 3-3 straight up in their last six outings, but their offense remains a huge threat. Over that same span, the Nuggets are sixth in the league with a 124.5 offensive rating and third with a 59.4 effective field goal percentage.
That’s what having Jokic and Murray can do for a team, and the Suns might find that out again this weekend. When the Nuggets defeated Phoenix last October in Denver, the Nuggets shot 51 percent in a 133-111 victory.

Home: Phoenix Suns (12-8, 8-3 Home)
Projected Starting Five:
- Devin Booker
- Collin Gillespie
- Dillon Brooks
- Royce O’Neale
- Mark Williams
The Suns put up a gallant stand against the mighty Oklahoma City Thunder on the road on Saturday before ending up with a 123-119 loss. Phoenix went toe to toe with the reigning NBA champs, which was some sort of a moral victory for Devin Booker and company, who have dropped two of their last three outings. Collin Gillespie continued his breakout campaign with 24 points versus the Thunder, while Mark Williams had 21 points and 14 boards. Booker and Dillon Brooks put up 21 and 19 points, respectively.
Despite the loss, it was encouraging for the Suns to see themselves keeping in step with the high-powered OKC side. It’s not just Booker who’s providing ample offense for Phoenix, with Brooks, Gillespie and Williams holding their own. Over the last five Suns games, Brooks led Phoenix with 21.6 points, while Gillespie averaged 19.2 points on a 52.9 field goal percentage. Gillespie barely played in the first meeting with Denver, but he could be the x-factor this time around in the rematch, which can also be said about the Suns’ defense, which has posted a 109.2 defensive rating over the last 10 contests.
